Some injury notes from manager Terry Francona's pregame press conference:
* Shortstop Jed Lowrie was placed on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, and Drew Sutton has been brought back up to replace him on the roster.
"Jed got an MRI this morning, and the MRI was actually pretty good," Francona said. "Structurally, it didn't look like there was any significant damage, which is really good."
Francona said the results of Lowrie's MRI will be sent to Dr. Lewis Yokum in California. Lowrie will rest and start receiving treatment on his shoulder. Francona didn't give a name for the type of shoulder injury it is, but he said there's swelling, bruising, and a loss of strength.
"Regardless of what we've found, when you take a swing like that and it hurts like that, we better slow him down a little bit," Francona said.
