  1. Did I mention phantoms? I don't think so. "Fans" that don't want to make the playoffs? Didn't mention them either. Just a general statement about nay-sayers and the constantly negative folks and the folks that know more about what is best for this team than others. Feeling attacked or ganged up on Mr. Victim? That's your conscience. Not my post.
  2. I hear you. So true. The nay-sayers are never happy and never will be, with anything, ever. It's easier to blame, blame, blame and "know" more than everyone else. Blah blah blah.
  3. Good to see you BTR! Hope you'll be posting more now that the season is almost here! Love your new signature BTW!
  4. I don't think it's strange at all. It's a new season, anything can happen. April 1st can't get here soon enough for me. You are one of the most reasonable and level headed posters out here. It makes sense that you would watch the season/pitching play out and not be one of the ripping mad fans. Dempster's had a good ST, we can only hope he can hang in the AL during the regular season. Lester and Buchholz' have also had a good ST. Here's hoping for good health etc etc! I'm cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season. This team can make you happy or break your heart. I'm not expecting a WS but also not expecting a last place finish. Making the play offs would be and unexpected feat, but it sure would shut the more negative portion of the fanbase the hell up!
  5. Agree, I would too!!
  6. Lester threw 6 perfect innings!!
  7. Gomes is hitting well today. 2 RBI today.
  8. Jackie Bradley Jr. in Opening Day mix Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff March 17, 2013 11:31 AM FORT MYERS, Fla. — The odds are against Jackie Bradley Jr. being on the Opening Day roster. He has played only 61 games at Double A and the Red Sox have been traditionally cautious with their young players. But with David Ortiz headed for the disabled list and Stephen Drew going in that direction, the Red Sox have two unexpected openings on their roster. All Bradley has done is hit .457/.568/.600 and play Gold Glove-caliber defense in the outfield. Could he make the team? "That’s a hell of a question,” manager John Farrell said. “We’ve got two weeks to determine that.” Bradley could start in left field if the Red Sox use Jonny Gomes as the DH. If Ortiz is going to be out more than a few weeks, that becomes a viable option. "He’s not on the roster right now. He’s have to be added, obviously. What the counter move to that would be, would be factored into this. But you can’t deny the fact he’s had a hell of a spring training," Farrell said. "The bottom line thing would be — with any young player, whether it’s Jackie or any other position player — when they come to the big leagues you want to make sure they get regular at-bats. "If those are there, they become part of the equation. But I think most importantly, he’s doing whatever he can to impact a decision.” Starting Bradley in the big leagues also would mean starting his service time clock and that could result in his achieving free agency a year earlier. But are the Red Sox — a last place team with fading popularity — in a position to worry about six years down the road? In the next two weeks, as pitching improves, Bradley will be tested. "The one thing we’ve always focused on is when he starts to face pitchers that are up against the start of the season, as their stuff is sharpened. Facing quality guys, whether it’s the early part of the game or deeper into the game. That decision is ongoing. That situation is ongoing and ultimately a decision is in the near future here," Farrell said. Players like Mike Trout, Bryce Harper and Manny Machado have changed the face of their respective teams. Farrell acknowledged that is a factor, too. "I think young talented players bring an energy that, if you have the right mix with a veteran group is definitely a benefit. That’s going to be unique to the combination of players that are at hand," he said. Bradley was supposed to be in minor league camp by now. But as injuries mount, his chances get a little better.
  9. Book burning censor? More ridiculous name calling? Grow up. You obviously don't know when to stop. But I do and will now.
  10. Ok. Why is ok for you to be a douche or an ******* but it's not ok for others? I don't think he was being either. He was just pointing out the obvious. And without stooping to name calling or personal attacks. Anyone who disagrees with you is a douche or an ass or stupid or inferior or in my case menopausal. You are so transparent.
  11. I got what you were saying the first time too. That's the point.
  12. I like Eck and think he's good too but agree 100% with your points. You hit the nail on the head.
  13. I agree with you. Don't think anyone was faulting Boras. Just pointing out the facts.
  14. Way to stoop to name calling and a personal attack. Nice job!
  15. I'm not trying to silence anyone. Just pointing out what is obvious to everyone but you. Quit being so sensitive. At any rate, back on topic..... I will have less interest in the WBC now that the US is out. They got cold their last 2 games and got out played. Plus all the horns in the crowd make the game more like a soccer atmosphere than baseball. Hope the rest of you enjoy it!!
  16. Just trying to help you notice that the horse you are beating is already dead. But there is no stopping you. Keep the negativity rolling, it's what you do best!
  17. Express away. Enjoy and be well. We all get your opinion by now. Maybe give it a rest. :dunno:
  18. Great points/post. You had me at "Because of Scott Boras I don't see Ellsbury returning after this season".
  19. We get it. We got it. Really, we do get it. Seriously, your point has been taken. It's not your decision. It's being played regardless of your opinion. It's being played, it's baseball. Nothing any of us say will make a difference. Some of us enjoy it. Live and let live.
  20. De La Rosa, Webster, Vazquez optioned Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff March 15, 2013 06:18 PM FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox optioned three of their more impressive young players to the minors after the first game of today's doubleheader. Righthanders Rubby De La Rosa and Allen Webster were sent to Triple A Pawtucket catcher Christian Vazquez to Double A Portland. Webster had a 1.64 ERA over 11 innings. He allowed nine hits with one walk and 14 strikeouts. He will be in the Pawtucket rotation. De La Rosa had a 9.45 ERA in 6.2 innings. The Sox controlled his innings in spring training and will do the same come the season as he returned late last season after Tommy John surgery. Vazquez hit only .188 but drew raves for his defense, both throwing and with his work behind the plate. He projects to be the starting catcher for Portland.
  21. Yeah, I guess you're right. Mike Piazza et al are not of Italian heritage. Why do you care? Are ya bored? So many people are enjoying it.
  22. I focused on the most ridiculous part of your post because it was so stupid. I'm a life long conservative, just like I'm a life long Red Sox fan. Sorry, you wouldn't understand the later. You enjoy comparing apples to oranges and bringing into the mix subject matters that aren't even on the radar. You are always over sensitive. You react like a scolded child. Grow up. Yeah, we agreed a long time ago to no longer communicate but you couldn't help yourself with the name calling when I wasn't addressing you at all. You simply cannot help yourself and I almost feel sorry for you.... almost.
  23. What a horrible call. Couldn't believe it when I saw it live. Nice win by the D.R. Are they the only undefeated team?
