  1. Yaz is my all time favorite too. But imagine what Ted Williams career would have been if he didn't lose those seasons during WWII and the Korean War. Insane!
  2. Uh, oh.... It might be time for the king to put you on his ignore list
  3. Can the mods please combine this thread w/ the 2013 Spring Training thread that was started 2/3/13?
  4. From The Globe: Big crowd of pitchers at Fenway South Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff February 5, 2013 10:59 AM FORT MYERS, Fla. — Pitchers and catchers do not officially report until Feb. 12, but plenty of Red Sox beat that deadline. Andrew Bailey, Daniel Bard, Craig Breslow, Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, John Lackey, Jon Lester, Andrew Miller, and Franklin Morales were among those on hand at the team complex this morning. Bailey, Bard, Lackey, and Lester threw bullpen sessions in what was perfect weather: sunny and 70 degrees. Two quick observations: • Bard was throwing free and easy and appeared confident. "Felt good," he said. One bullpen session is not much to evaluate, but Bard looked a lot more like he used to. He was throwing from the stretch and letting it fly. Their were no radar runs around, but Bard was throwing the ball well. • Lackey is thinner than he has been in years. He didn't pitch last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery but is under no restrictions this spring. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Ryan Lavarnway, Daniel Nava, Juan Carlos Linares, and Dan Butler are the position players who are here. The Red Sox have not hired a bullpen coach yet. But Chad Epperson, a minor league catching instructor, is working with Salty, Lavarnway, and the rest of the catchers. Epperson filled in for Gary Tuck last season and he appears to be the favorite for the job. While the coaching position is bullpen coach, it's a combination of running the bullpen and being a catching instructor.
  5. Love grumpy cat!! Perfect for grumpy jacko.
  6. Great thread SFF!! I am SO EXCITED about Spring Training! It will be the first season I'll have NESN at home!!! Have had MLB Extra Innings since 2003. All is good when ST and the regular season are around the corner!! CANNOT WAIT!!!:thumbsup:
  7. I heard Verducci on Colin Cowherd's radio show today. Good stuff. He was saying that explains his quick and successful recovery from hip surgery in 2009 and his steller numbers in the post season. I had to laugh! I'll never forget how PISSED I was when A-Rod signed with the NYY over us in 2004. Then he showed his true punk colors w/ Tek in July and w/ Bronson in the ALCS. I was un-PISSED quickly that season. It just gets worse for A-FRAUD!! Bwahahahahahahaha!!! Good "timing", too since it recently came out that he would miss the entire 2013 season after the surgery. And the NYY still owe him $141 million over the next 5 years??? HA HA HA HA
  8. I hope so. Good riddance.
  9. 2004 and 2007 ruined so many fans. You know, like a lot of NYY fans. It's embarassing.
  10. LMMFAO UN and MVP!!!!!!!:lol: Good stuff!!
  11. Yeah, exactly. The FO can go fk themselves for thowing him under the bus after he left. No way did he deserved that.
  12. According to WEEI.com, the Red Sox signed outfielder Ryan Sweeney to a minor league contract Friday, with an invitation to spring training. Sweeney, 27, was nontendered by the Sox after hitting .260 in 63 games in 2012, his season ending when he broke his hand punching a door in the clubhouse July 30.
  13. I like the little guy, but he's no Pedey.
  14. A piece from Nick Cafardo's blog in today's Globe: Nava said he has not been approached by the team about playing first base. The Sox have been looking for a first baseman/outfielder. Nava, a switch-hitter, said he last played first base at junior college and took ground balls there during infield practice. He said he would welcome the opportunity. “The biggest thing I tried to do was improve the right side,” Nava said. “As a switch-hitter, I wasn’t happy with my production righthanded.” Nava, 29, who was married this winter, hit .185 with 3 homers and 10 RBI righthanded in 81 at-bats. Nava may have been Boston’s best outfielder and indeed showed the most accurate arm from the outfield. “I think it was a year of adjustments,” Nava said. “I got to play and show what I could do, but I have to keep getting better at everything.” Thoughts?
  15. Sorry I am so disappoint. Legally separated for 7 years. He can't afford health insurance otherwise. Happily single. Glad the Napoli deal is finally done!!
  16. If you think I am going to let a personal attack by go unanswered, you have lost your mind. A lot of other posters call your posting style annoying on a regular basis. Your constant whining, stupid nicknames, USE OF CAPS, long incoherent rants about the team or GM etc is annoying. I think it's time for this ownership group to move on. How is that pom pom waving? I am willing to give Cherington a chance, so what? Just because I choose not to spew my opinions or pretend the think I know what is best for this team doesn't mean I lack baseball knowledge. I don't know what is best for the Red Sox and I never will pretend to, but I've been a fan all of my life and nothing will change that. I will always support the team the FO puts out there. I don't enjoy stressing out or worrying about things I have no control over. I enjoy the in game threads, it's fun to me to interact with most members out here about the games. The plus there too is the fact that you don't participate in the GT's. You feel sorry for my husband? LMAO!! I feel sorry for all of the members out here who are subjected to your annoying "look at me and all my knowledge and fandom" posts and posting style. Go Red Sox!! You can't see, but I'm waving pom poms!!
  17. Wasn't addressing you SBF. Didn't mention Bensonhurst. Don't care what you think about anything. And I am definitely not your sista'. I was clearly addressing a700. Annoy someone else, thanks!
  18. Well thanks for that, you troll;)
  19. Good Lord can you stop with the racist interjections already????
  20. Always the voice of reason Bellhorn.
  21. Oh, ok. That clears up nothing. The more things change, the more they stay the same. It is always all about you, you being stalked or you being trolled. Anyone he doesn't agree with you or questions you is wrong or a troll. mvp and UN are 2 of the better posters out here. You're pretty cool too when you aren't constantly defending SBF, who is and always will be one of the most annoying posters out here ever and kinda like that guy from work you mentioned earlier. Regardless, hope all is well with you and yours. Keep us posted during your Spring Training trip. ST cannot get here soon enough for me. I hate the off season and Winter in general. I might order a Napoli jersey.......
