  1. Hinske is awful, we CANNOT give away outs
  2. Jima came in vs. Polanco (whos batting .329), Sheffield and Ordonez and got two pop-ups and a K to Sheffield that was filthy. Its nice having a set-up man this good.
  3. And continue on with Edgar Martinez: Although 25 hes quite inexperienced as a pitcher. Converted from a catcher to a MR in 2004. His minor league career has so far looked like: 2004 A-Ball: 0.90 ERA in 10 IP 2005 High-A: 2.10 ERA in 34.1 IP 2005 AA: 1.50 ERA in 18 IP Which brings us to 2006 where he spent the year in Portland (AA) and was quite good. 69 IP, 51 hits, 20 ER, 18 BB, 59 K, 3.28 K/BB, 2.61 ERA And after a successful season there he was promoted to AAA for 2007: 17.2 IP, 17 hits, 8 ER, 8 BB, 20 K, 2.50 K/BB, 4.08 ERA. He needs to work on his command and develop his secondary pitches a little more but I suppose its possible we could see him sometime late in the year or 2008.
  4. More math test mojo! http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c65/rdsxmbnt/infinity.gif http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c65/rdsxmbnt/pic27753.gif
  5. Ill be updating this but id like to start with Manny Delcarmen (AAA): Delcarmen could be turning it around: 6.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 Ks in his last 4 appearances I like Delcarmen and despite what his ERA says last year, he looked to be a pretty solid MR. His BABIP was extremely high .385, which explains the 68 hits in 53 innings. His K rates were solid (7.6 K/9), and his walk rate, although not ideal was right around 3, good for a 2.60 K/BB. His FIP was a very solid (3.02) as was his DIPS (3.08). So if he can find himself again he could be a solid bullpen arm sometime later this year.
  6. I was just making a snide remark
  7. http://www.boston.com/partners/worldnow/nesn.html?catID=80782&clipid=1441196&autoStart=true&mute=false&continuous=true good video
  8. And hes doing the same this year as a Starter (check the coco thread). Im more than willing to give him a shot right now
  9. Wake wasnt at his best today but he pitched 7 innings with no walks and kept it within reach. Now lets score some runs
  10. Like i said the Tigers bullpen only has one healthy MR who has an ERA under 4 (CL Todd Jones), this game isnt over yet
  11. Verlander looks really good tonight. Hopefully we can scrape together a run or two and bring the pitch count up. The Tigers bullpen isnt really dominant, especially with Zumaya out.
  12. Back to the topic at hand (this is like preschool lately) Very interesting WMP stats: As a starter: .294/.351/.529/.880, 10 hits, 2 doubles, 2 HR, 3 BB, 6 runs, 5 RBI, 15 Ks As a PH/DR: .125/.222/.125/.347, 1 hit, 0 BB, 1 run, 0 RBI, 3 Ks I mean you look at those and WMP has an .880 OPS as a starter (and hes dreadful as a bench player). With Coco really struggling, I think if WMP can play at least average CF he could represent a big upgrade. (and if anyone knows any sites that do starter/PH splits please tell me so I dont have to go through each game log and calculate these each time )
  13. Dan Haren currently has a lower ERA than Wakefield (1.64 to 1.79), it stops here
  14. Ive been to 3 parks and probaly rank them: Fenway Wrigley Metrodome With the dome being way down. I really love Fenway but Im all in favor for a new ballpark. If they made a park that had the same dimensions as Fenway and looked similar except with all the new modern luxuries, better seats, better views, it would be amazing.
  15. This chart was made by SoxScout over at Sosh: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c65/rdsxmbnt/4vquz29.gif Basically explains the point of this thread about how Dice-K had fantastic peripherals but his ERA was very high. But as you can see hes maintaining a xERA, Fip, etc. all around 3 (which is around ace-#2 SP in the AL) and his ERA is adjusting down towards it.
  16. Those are the old stats, the new ones are 1st in the MLB in runs scored and the least amount of runs allowed in the Majors. o ya
  17. awesome game for Dice-K, hes looked really good his last two starts 0 walks
  18. One note on the DET bullpen, it doesnt seem overly powerful. With Zumaya out, and Seay giving up 4 runs, that leaves only Todd Jones with an ERA under 4
