  1. Anyway Dmat will be fine. He pitched great early on and then ran into some tough outings vs. the Yankees and then obviously tonight. Tonight being the exception hes had great K rates and hasnt displayed any weakness in allowing walks in his career in Japan. He just didnt have it tonight, happens to every pitcher in the league.
  2. omg i was obviously kidding. Point is its wayyy too early to make any judgements about a guy whos pitched in a total of 6 MLB starts
  3. hmm Wang has a 5.84 ERA, he sux!
  4. he should have 7...
  5. ok fine...i forgive you lugo
  6. um snyder what are you doing...
  7. I think its mostly the Cliff Lee ceiling. I mean Lester was the 2nd best LHP prospect in the majors (behind liriano) just 1 year ago and probaly a top 10 prospect in baseball. Granted a lot has happened since then but he seems to have his stuff still and Id have to say if everything works out hes a legit #2 SP, with Cliff Lee being more of the expected (since Lee is a 4.00 ERA pitcher for the most part which is good but you'd have to think Lester could potentially be a good deal better than that).
  8. coco with another hit tonight
  9. nice 2-out hitting. 2-0 sox
  10. absolute ceiling is Cliff Lee? I think thats selling his talent short
  11. he obviously meant "Ellsbury, I cant wait to see him next year."
  12. Exactly, this is what Beane does. When he started building his teams around high OBP guys with success, the rest of the league GMs wanted these players. So there became a high demand for these types of guys which started pricing these players out of his range so he goes looking for other types of ballplayers that he can win games with (your Mark Kotsay defenders, veteran power bats in Frank Thomas and Mike Piazza).
  13. Dont fool yourself everyone knows what Beane is doing here. Hes got a young (very talented) pitcher who could potentially command a lot of value (overpaying?) however theres a massive downside in that hes had a lot of injury problems.
  14. Good start it sounds like. We'll just have to wait and see before hes pinned as the ace of the Yankees for the next 10 years after one start. (not that im comparing their talent level) but Devern Hansack also threw a no-hitter in his 2nd MLB start
  15. How longs Chacin going to be out?
  16. Im not too comfortable trading Buchholz, though it is Harden so maybe. If a WMP, Bowden and Hansen/Delcarmen could be possible id be all over it. Beckett-Dice-K-Harden-Buchholz-Lester, pipedream I know, but dam!
  17. Injury history and all, Id love to have Harden on the team. Interesting to see what the price is
  18. Red Sox MR prospect sent over the in Doug Mirabelli trade. In SD he has suddenly turned into a dominant relief pitcher, and it isnt just this year either. He pitched 50.2 innings, 30 hits, 6 BBs, 37 Ks in relief in SD, thats a 1.07 ERA. And this year? 14 innings pitched, 8 hits, 0 ER, 3BBs, 8 Ks, and thats obviously a 0.00 ERA. Now were are talking about a guy who the year before allowed more runs (7 ER in all) in 2.1 innings in Boston then he did the next year in a whole 50 innings. Then in 2006 he went to AAA, and really wasnt very good, 5.27 ERA in 13 innings before going to AA where he was quite good. Then traded to SD where hes dominated ever since. His xFIP indicates hes playing a above his level right now and last (2.71 xFIP last year and 2.73 this year). He has good ground ball rates which helps in SD and pitching in the National League which will help also. But his results in SD are really amazing for something that basically happened overnight. So what happened how is this guy so good after showing very little for Boston (because its not like a 1.00 ERA translates into a 3 or 4 ERA in the AL)?
