  1. i love guys getting walks but someones got to drive the runs in and when Ortiz is doing the walk thing and Mannys not hitting, WMP gets stuck with that job and he cant do it
  2. can anyone on this team hit a HR?
  3. when was the last time a Red Sox batter got a hit off the green monster? im drawing blanks
  4. wow thats pretty good, didnt know we had something like that
  5. Stat(s) of the day: IsoP and IsoB IsoP: Isolated Power, measures how much power a hitter is hitting for. Real simple to calculate, just take a players SLG% - BA. For example David Ortiz has .566 SLG this year and a .321 BA, so his IsoP is .566-.321 = .245. By contrast his SLG last year was .636 and his BA was .287 so his IsoP last year was .349. and you don't need to be an expert to tell his power is way down this year. IsoB: Isolated Patience, similar to isolated power but this deals with OBP. To calculate take a players OBP% - BA. Again with the David Ortiz example, he has a .432 OBP - .321 BA = .111 IsoB (which is very good). Then take last year he had a .413 OBP - .287 BA = .126 IsoB, down from last year but he's getting a lot more hits so make up for that.

  12. He did indeed start today, though not his best start, not bad: 7 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB/3 K, 15-3 GO-FO On the season: 33 IP, 15 hits, 5 ER, 8 BB, 35 K, 1.36 ERA 9.54 K/9, 2.18 BB/9, 4.37 K/BB, 0.27 HR/9, and of course ridiculous G/F numbers but I dont know the exact numbers

  16. Two of the ALs best square off in a marquee pitching matchup to start off the series. Bedard has been lights out lately, with very impressive K totals. Beckett is the ace of this staff and has won these type of games before ie. vs. Peavy. 17. Gagne will be in Boston tomorrow also
  18. press conference on NESN now THEO: -Gagne primarily in a set-up role -Pen was a strength but Gagne makes this an elite group -Papelbon thrilled to have him as are others -Draft picks were a big part, may not have done deal had there been no draft pick compensation. (1st round/sandwhich or sandwhich/2nd rounder depending on who signs him) -Couple targets for bats, had a strong offer for a "player" (Dye) but the team appears to be keeping him, can sleep at night knowing the current team
  19. Welcome to Boston Eric! I'll see you in the Boston bullpen in 5 hours .
  20. Gagne-Okajima-Papelbon!
