I hate the Yankees. I really really do. But, I've gotta say, they've become a lot harder of a team to hate over the past couple of years. For a while, the Yankees were the main team that was going out and signing huge free agents and building their teams through trades that lacked loyalty to anyone and everyone. This, however, is the nature of baseball now. The Yankees used to not have any homegrown talent, and the arguement was used that they "bought" their team and their championships. This can't be used anymore, because the Yanks actually have more than a lot of teams, and as it turns out, were just ahead of their time when it came to the deals and the big time free agents.
The Yankes were a lot easier to hate when they featured guys like Steve "Sniffffffffff" Howe and Darryl "Snifffffffffff" Strawberry and Wade "I'd Sell My Mother If The Price Were Right" Boggs...
When it comes to guys like Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Mo, etc...I dislike them because of the uniform that they wear. They're guilty by assosciation so to speak.
Hell, I even like ARod. I think there's something to be said for a guy who was willing to take a huge paycut to come and play for a potential contender. We forget that it was the Player's Union that vetoed the deal to bring him to Boston, not ARod himself. Yea, I didn't like the Tek fight. But emotions run high in baseball and you can't judge a guy by one incident. Disliking guys like Carl Everett, Milton Bradley, Jose Guillen, Barry Bonds...these guys are f***-off's as a whole, not just an isolated incident. These are the guys to dislike.
