  1. I laughed out loud at this, and I'm sitting in class. My teacher asked me what was so funny, and I had to make something up about finding the accounting equation hysterical. Thanks for getting me in trouble.

  5. I don't think he'll go to the Cubs... I think Dusty Baker will get a one year deal after this year's done.
  6. I'll take Pedro at 70% over Lilly at 110%.
  7. For sure...crazy stuff. I wonder why this is just popping up now? Heart conditions are usually either around since birth or develop well later into life than now. I wonder if it's just stress related? This is the first time Ortiz has been on this team when they've been really "out of it" at this point in the season. And no one really expected Minnesota to do anything while he was there. Maybe dealing with the intense scrutiny this year got to him? Anyways...he's one of the best there is and here's to hoping for a quick and easy recovery if there does end up being something wrong.
  8. I don't understand...I always considered a catalyst on a baseball team a good thing?
  9. I really think that Glavine and Pedro are both far healthier than the Mets are letting on. I think it's seen as a slap in the face to fans to put your stars on the shelf for the remainder of the regular season when you've got the division well in hand, but it's simply smart managing. When you have veteran, and in this situation, veteran is just a nice way of saying "really old and not as durable as they used to be", arms carrying the vast majority of your pitching obligations, you've gotta make sure these guys are top notch and well rested going into the post season. I don't doubt that they're both a bit banged up, but I bet either could pitch continuously. The thing is, there's no reason to pitch them, and there's no one else that would benefit more than the two of them getting a bunch of time off prior to the October run.
  10. Oh...s***...I thought this post was about Ryan Phillipe. Nevermind, I've got nothing to say about this other fella.
  11. The Sox have as good a chance of making the playoffs as you and I do.
  12. I agree with you...Leyland is a helluva guy and he's got to have Manager of the Year locked up (that is, if Francona doesn't get it. ) I'd love to see the Tigers or the Mets do it...but I'm easy with that because both of those teams have OUTSTANDING young talent. If they don't do it this year, they'll have ample opportunities in the future.
  13. Alright, I've held my tounge long enough...you guys are bickering like little girls. Who gives a s*** if you have different opinions on players and what not...that's the beauty of the game of baseball. It can be left up to debate and discussion. That's all fine and good, that's what this board is about, but resorting to personal attacks on one another is just plain immature, not to mention annoying for the other people on board. 700Hitter can be very stuck on his beliefs at times and is reluctant to say when he's wrong. So what? We can all be stubborn at times but he does raise good points often. CrespoBlows...I understand your frustration; dealing with stubborn people is very aggravating. I AM stubborn, and I HAVE argued with stubborn people, I know where you're coming from. But in fairness to him, he's not telling you what to believe, so continue thinking what you want to think and letting him do the same. There's no reason this should have escalated into this. Fact of the matter is, frustration is boiling over on all of our parts because the Sox are s***ing the bed. Look on the bright side, at least they tanked early this year rather than waiting to break our hearts at the end.
  14. I can't believe I skipped the UFC to watch these bums tonight. I feel like my emotions get put through a UFC fight night in and night out with these class B douchebags.
  15. No seriously...has the FO even been in CONTACT with Sweet Lou?
  16. At least that pitch wasn't a solid 8" out of the strikezone... Errr wait, yea it was. You suck Javy. Is Rich Gedman still alive?
  17. Having a late-inning lead with this team is like a date going really really well and the girl asks you to come upstairs but you know you have a problem with premature ejaculation. You can't help but get excited but you know you're going to fall flat on your face and just end up embarassing yourself.
  18. Oral mansex is up for the Sox player who puts one over the fence this inning...
  19. I think it's hysterical that Timlin put the whole team on blast on the radio... Go buy yourself a new gun Mike, you're going to have plenty of time for hunting when you're DFA'ed you meatball serving piece of s***. And when you go hunting, I'm rooting for the animals.
  20. Un-freaking-believable. Another chance to pick up a game is squandered by our bullpen.
  21. No WAY you move Papelbon for Ibanez. I'm actually going to pretend I didn't even read that. The kid has the stuff to be a dominant starter if they decide to not keep him as the teams closer. I'm not 100% against moving Papelbon...maybe more like 95%...but I do know you've gotta get someone lightyears ahead of Ibanez if you're going to move Paps. He's an absolute, legitimate superstar waiting to happen.
  22. I agree with what you said about Ozzie...and I can't staaaaaaand Pierzynski at all. And the thing is, I hated him long before I ever had a reason to. Just looking at him makes me mad. As far as the Mets go, I'm really pulling for them. They do play in a VERY weak division, but I still feel like they are, hands down, the best team in the National League. And they're made up of a bunch of good guys, which I like, too. I grew up in Syracuse, NY...where both Carlos Delgado and Shawn Green played their AAA ball. I got the chance to talk to both of them multiple times, and even though they were considered the "next big things" they always took time out before AND after games to sign autographs and interact with the fans. That goes a long way with me. I'd love to see them both win a WS. Assuming the Sox are toooooooootally out of it...I would love to see the Twins take the Wildcard. I like Gardenhire a lot and I think the years that Mauer, Morneau, Liriano, Santana, Johan, and Joe Nathan put together are deserving of something bigger than a pat on the back. Their run was unmatched this year.
  23. I think that it's impossible to judge what kind of following a team would have if they were to ever become competitive. A spending floor on the owners front would basically be a high risk/higher reward investment. I spent 2 years in Florida very close to the Tampa area...and often, I found myself just thinking that it just wasn't a baseball town. But, then you think about it, they've never had a baseball team to be excited about. Then, when the Rays went from terrible horrible no good very bad to only in the cellar because they play in a tough division, attendance increased steadily. You can see that Tampa issssss a sports town, judging by the success of the Lightning and the Bucs, I honestly feel that if some money was pumped into the DRays program, baseball could be a huuuuge success in the Tampa area. Tickets are cheap, so that wouldn't prevent people from going. I'm convinced that the only thing preventing large attendance at Tropicana Field is the lack of a decent product put on the field night after night after night. Even if they do decide to start spending money, they're never going to contend with the Yanks or the Sox financially, and it'll be tough to get the first relatively high profile FA to go there...but once he does, I feel like it would be a domino effect. The Rays do a lot of fan friendly things at their games also, which I think would also be a big draw. All too often, teams get away from that kind of stuff and cater only to the hard-core baseball fan...which is fine, for fans like you and I. However, there are other people....families, wives, young children that aren't being brought up in the "like baseball or you're not my son" (haha) mentality that I was...and these people make up a LARGE portion of any baseball teams target demographic. Bascially, I feel if the Tampa Bay Devil Rays put a 2nd or 3rd place team on the field...the people will come (Ray), the people will come.
  24. Damn...1st and 2nd nobody out if Pena hadn't of gotten picked off...1B would have been holding WMP on and wouldn't have gotten to that ball.
