  1. Did he shake Mannings hand? I don't see how I would have missed it. I'm a Brady fan, I'd hope that it was just an oversight by me. The Belichick thing was a definite snub, however. Show some class, Hoodie.
  2. Wow...where was Brady to meet Manning at midfield after the final gun? I thought for sure he'd be there. I hope I just missed it or it wasn't shown...if he went right back to the locker room, that's some serious poor sportsmanship. Same with The Hoodie, hardly even acknowledging Manning. Thumbs down, Bill.
  3. Trot was an awesome dirt-nosed ballplayer...in an era where so many guys don't seem to give a s***, you just know he was giving everything that he had on an everyday basis. Best of luck to him...I'll cheer my ass off when he comes back to Fenway.
  4. Alright...its a little weird that this topic got brought up after 20 years...but hey, its a RedSox topic, this is a RedSox board, I can go with it... I'll tell you what is retarded, however...the fact that anyone made any kind of comment that even remotely justified ANYTHING regarding Buckner's kids. And...I don't really know how to quote multiple things in the same post when they're on two different pages in the thread...so here's a700's quote "He should have taught them to fight back or he should have sent them to a better private school." Tell me you two aren't f***ing serious right now...I'm reaaaaaaaally hoping you're not. It's hard to read emotion on post walls, but if you're for real, you've gotta have your heads examined. I love the Sox as much as either of you do...and there's just no excuse for that. I respect both of you on this board and enjoy hearing your opinions on things...but this guys? You're way off base. Check yourself.
  5. I don't understand what would make you say this...the guy has shown loads of power and batted .300 last year in limited action. Is your only motivation behind him getting 500 ABs that he'll also have to play the field because you know Papi is the DH?
  6. Gonzalez has shown flashes of brilliance and I guess the Braves feel like they have a plethora of outfielders with Diaz, Jones, Langerhans, etc...won't be a bad deal if the Braves have locked up their closer of the future.
  7. Well...there goes one of our suggestions for a closer... The Braves dealt Adam LaRoche for Mike Gonzalez...just saw it on Sportscenter moments ago. Here's the article from ESPN.com... The Pittsburgh Pirates, filling their need for a left-handed power bat, acquired first baseman Adam LaRoche from the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday for lefty reliever Mike Gonzalez. The Braves will receive another as yet unidentified player. Neither team would comment and an announcement is not yet scheduled. The Pirates and Braves had been discussing a LaRoche-Gonzalez swap for weeks. Pittsburgh general manager Dave Littlefield was looking to upgrade an offense that ranked last in the National League with 141 home runs and a .397 slugging percentage. LaRoche hit 32 homers and drove in 90 runs last season and finished in a tie for seventh in the National League with a .561 slugging percentage. Gonzalez went 3-4 with 24 saves and a 2.17 ERA for the Pirates in 2006. Gonzalez should help improve an Atlanta bullpen that went 25-23 with a 4.39 ERA last season and blew a league-high 29 saves. Bob Wickman saved 18 games after coming over in a July trade with Cleveland, and the Braves picked up reliever Rafael Soriano from Seattle last month in a deal for starter Horacio Ramirez. The Braves will go into 2007 with a new right side of the infield. Kelly Johnson and Martin Prado are the leading candidates to replace second baseman Marcus Giles, who signed with San Diego when the Braves declined to tender him a contract in December. Scott Thorman, who hit five homers in 128 at-bats with Atlanta last season, could replace LaRoche at first base. The Pirates also talked to Arizona about a possible deal for Chad Tracy, and had considered Trot Nixon and several other free agents. During the course of the Pittsbugh-Atlanta talks, the Braves asked about center fielder Chris Duffy along with Gonzalez. But Littlefield reportedly was unwilling to part with Duffy or any of the Pirates' top young pitching prospects. With Wickman set in the closer's role in Atlanta, it appears that Gonzalez will be used as a setup man. Some baseball insiders are speculating that the Braves might be interested in flipping around Gonzalez as part of a second deal. The Yankees, among other clubs, have expressed interest in Gonzalez. Jerry Crasnick covers Major League Baseball for ESPN Insider.
  8. The only way I'm still onboard with the whole Drew thing is if they can change his guaranteed money into incentives. Those were pretty much my feelings from the beginning, but I became even more passionate about it when the whole new shoulder thing came out. Giving a guy who's played less than 100 games every other year since his birth in the league, and never truly lived up to his potential (who remembers 'the next mickey mantle' comparisons? Not that they were fair...but they were there nonetheless) that much money guaranteed just seemed assinine to me. Plus, the fact that it was taking at-bats away from Pena hurt me even more. We don't pay Pena a lot, and he's got the most raw power I've ever seen out of a guy not-yet 25. Something's gotta give here. I don't think Boras will let the contract be structured the way I want it to...don't get me wrong, I'd love to pay JD Drew $14 million a year...nothing would make me happier than handing him that check, so long as his numbers make him worth it. That being said...the idea of him taking some GBs at 1st and 3rd is definitley worth a shot to see what happens. Frank Thomas couldn't play 1B to save his life...but damn, the guy could hit.
  9. Ridiculous...I'm sick of Yankee fans kissing Giambi's ass for his "admission"...and his "apology". They make it sound like Giambi figured out that this was becoming an epidemic in baseball, decided to draw the line in the sand, and come clean. TOTALLY not true. Giambi got f***ing CAUGHT using PEDs, and then tried to save face with a teary ******** apology which he never even specified what for. He looked like a barefoot kid running up an icy hill in that footage. He hardly deserves to be praised and, as far as I'm concerned, is in that same group with McG, Sosa, Palmiero, and all the rest.
  10. Buckner gave everything he had for all of the 5 or so years he was with the Sox...to hate him is simply assinine. He put together a STELLAR baseball career with almost 3,000 hits and a career average of .289. Yea he blew a play that had catastrophic repercussions...but the Sox would have never even have been in that position if it wasn't for what he gave them during the '86 season that preceeded Mookie's ground ball.
  11. I wanted Lidell to absolutely kill Ortiz...I disagreed with the stoppage, though. Well, let me restate that...if you weren't going to stop it in the first when Tito was getting beat on so badly, you shouldn't have stopped it in the third. And keep in mind, I only say that because I wanted to see Tito get his face pounded more.
  12. Good to have you here...and dicking around while you're supposed to be in class or working...looks like you'll fit in here just perfectly
  13. I love Wily Mo, have I mentioned that? In my opinion, the Sox should have done what they had to do in addition to Crisp (within reason, of course) to get Andruw and set the outfield at Wily, Andruw, and ManRam. I wouldn't have glanced twice at J.D. Drew. I'd give my left foot for Wily to get some consistent at bats and consistent starts in the field so he can grow comfortable. He's a baby with biggest boy power...we NEED to harness this and refine it. J.D. f***ing Drew? I know that's not what this thread was about...but screw J.D. Drew and screw his $14 dollars. Wily is one of our future outfields...and I'm not just talking immediate future. God I love this guy.
  14. It never ceases to amaze me when the Yankees have a glaring weakness, the type of deals Yankee fans come up with. Like seriously, it's one of my favorite parts of baseball. "You know...the Yanks could reaaaaaaly use a better 1B...what if we sent Melky Cabrera and some cash to the Cardinals for Albert Pujols and a player to be named later?" "Damn...I'd really love a better pitching staff in the Bronx...I'm thinking we could package Proctor with Nick Green and cash and spin them off to Toronto to get Halladay and Vernon Wells. You know, cause once we have Wells, we have a plethora of outfielders and can use Melky as bait to get Liriano..." Granted, none of those quotes are exact...but I challenge ANY of you to think of all the Yankee fans that you know, and tell me that its absolutley out of the realm of possibilities that you'd hear those words from at least one of them. I know overvaluing your players and coming up with fantasy trade scenarios isn't exclusive to Yankee fans...but I really think they take it to the extreme.
  15. Has there been any talk of dealing him at all? I can't believe they actually would...
  16. Bump... Sorry guys, I'm pathetic haha.
  17. What the f*** are you doing going for that? You're going to run straight up the middle on Florida's defensive line? They're the best in college football?!? They don't deserve to win a National Championship now....this isn't f***ing Madden, Tressell.
  18. So I've checked on Sox tickets in here before, but I figured this wouldn't hurt to give a whirl as a last resort...I'm going to visit a girl in Boston this Friday and am trying to surprise her with Celtics tickets to the game vs. the Raptors Friday night...being poor sucks or I'd just go to ticket master and buy them. Anyone have any connections or ideas by any chance? When you come to Syracuse and you need Skychiefs or Orange tickets...I'm your man
  19. He Hate Me...your avatar is incorrect...Michael Kay's call is "Pride, Power, Pinstripes"...you've gotta adjust your order
  20. New York papers have NEVER EVER been known to look at the baseball world through rose-colored Pinstriped glasses... Just like the Globe is completley unbiased toward the Sox.
