  1. If you look at the full roster, Boston is the 3rd oldest team in mlb http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rosters
  2. was he only scratched due to the rain?
  3. One thread per series should suffice Game 1, 4:05 Phil Hughes(0-0, 3.00) vs. Brian Bannister (1-0, 0.00) Game 2, 8:05 Ian Kennedy (0-1, 23.14) vs. Zack Greinke (1-0, 1.29) Game 3, 8:05 Andy Pettitte (0-1, 5.40) vs. John Bale (0-1, 5.68)
  4. Lineups from peter abraham: YANKEES Damon LF Jeter SS Abreu RF Rodriguez 3B Matsui DH Cano 2B Betemit 1B Cabrera CF Molina C Mussina RHP RAYS Iwamura 2B Crawford LF Pena 1B Upton CF Floyd DH Hinske RF Aybar 3B DiFelice C Bartlett SS Hammel RHP
  5. Hammel may be just what we need to get the offense on track
  6. More fuel for the fire.. http://www.courant.com/sports/baseball/yankees/hc-yankees0315.artmar15,0,5097149.story http://www.courant.com/sports/baseball/ny-spshelly165616032mar16,0,5820209.story
  7. Isn't Duncan fighting for a roster spot too, and working hard to get on the team? Given the quotes from his manager, maybe Duncan was just trying to make a good impression on Girardi and increase his chances of making the team. Girardi didn't exactly condemn what Duncan did in the postgame:
  8. What do you suggest he do, slide into first?
  9. Well we do know for sure that the manager and at least a couple players were pissed for sure. Yeah, I do. I agree with Girardi on this one. Although it was a legal play, he could have just slid hard. No need to lower the shoulder in March. Putting a AA catcher out for 8-10 weeks is the same as giving a major leaguer a sore groin for a few days. Sounds about even to me.
  10. Event #2: The team 'professionals' acted professional. They would say the same thing no matter what happened, so I don't think we can say they for sure that they were actually okay with it. I think you misunderstand event #3. As someone mentioned earlier, Longoria wasn't even hit. His jersey was brushed. The ump overreacted and tossed Phillips, but it wasn't really retaliation. So the score wasn't really settled then. Whatever. I won't go as far as to say what Duncan did was a good thing since it was just a ST game, but I'm certainly not going to badmouth a guy who will actually stick up for his teammates, even if he did go a little too far. Event #4: Iwamura being a starter and not another prospect is a non issue to me, since you only play 1-3 innings in ST and you don't get too many opportunities to retaliate.
  11. For years now the Yankees have been a team of 'professionals.' It's nice to finally have someone on the roster who will protect your guys again. No badmouthing from me.
  12. this is a joke thread right?
  13. I'm guessing Kennedy's cap is higher because he's hasn't been set back by injuries like Joba and Hughes have. Hughes would probably be capped at 200 this year if he didn't pull his hammy, because I believe his cap last year was ~175. Joba had tendonitis in college in '06 that limited him to 89.1 innings, which is why he only pitched a total of 112.1 innings last year.
  14. you can say that again
  15. http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/sosasa01.shtml
  16. They are doing it for insurance purposes. That is the only reason he is still with the organization in any capacity. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2007/12/11/yankees-offer-pavano-a-parachute/
