Gabbard is getting called up. Its basically pretty much set in stone. I don't they will make a move with nothing out there.

I would say that is the case. I didn't believe they would have traded him anyways though but Atlanta believes they are still in it and thats why getting Wickman will help.

nixon might be a superior fielder but his bat is pathetic. I'll take my chances with Pena and not get all over him over a few mishaps out there.

Anyone object to having Wily Mo Pena playing more down the stretch. Nixon is tailing off like i predicted he would and isn't coming back anyways.

There were smiles and fist bumps all around after David Wells completed a 42-pitch, three-inning simulated game today. The plan is for Wells to pitch a side session Friday, another simulated game on Monday, and after that, who knows? Most likely one rehab assignment, but there is increasing confidence around here that he might give the Sox 10 starts down the stretch. If Wakefield cannot make his start saturday it is likely the Red Sox will purchase the contract of Kason Gabbard from AAA Pawtucket to make the start against the mariners.

Bard will sign....He is definitely not going back to school. I have heard he told teammates and coaches he was not going back. Now its just about what money it will take. He wants a hansen type deal but the red sox will not give him that since he is not as polished and advanced as hansen was.
