Other than the two fly balls by Lugo and Youklis, there hasn't been a hard hit ball.

Igawa is at 70 pitches in the 4th. Here comes the pen again, early.
  3. a700hitter
Igawa just gave up his 3rd home run to tie the game, and then he threw at Ichiro's head and flipped him on the next pitch.

Can the stupid talk, stupid. Let me remind you that you are on the losing end of a bet with me at this moment. I am not saying that Hughes will not have a better career than Arroyo. At this point in his career, Hughes is more advanced than Arroyo was. Arroyo was a late bloomer. The point that I was making is that 90-91 mph stuff is not that outstanding. I was using Arroyo as an example of an unspectcular pitcher who throws around 90 with a more refined curveball. If you want to question the point that I am making, I am more than happy to explain myself, so there is no need to start with the name-calling, stupid. I can't wait for you to be my bitch when you lose that bet.

Ichiro just beat Igawa to 1B, and Igawa was hustling.

Oswalt is a young pitcher too... and he is an accomplished star.

This is slightly different than my recollection, but nonetheless the FO balked at dealing Lester. From ProJo: http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo_20060801_01seancol.1a4b47d.html Maybe none are available today, but that could change in a month. Dominating in AAA is a far cry from succeeding in the majors.

That's not what was being reported at the time. They walked away from the Red Sox offer, which was never disclosed. The Astros were rumored to be asking for the 3 pitchers and Crisp. Why would they walk away from the trade they proposed? That's Theo's job to figure out who is available. It depends on the organization he lands with. I remember getting a Cy Young winner from the Expos for our top two pitching prospects.

this doesn't bode well for timlin. He never had injury problems in a long career. He may finally be breaking down.

How long will Torre keep Abreu in the #3 spot? He's killing their production.
  12. a700hitter
Yeah! I love that Vizcaino for Randy Johnson trade. When was the last time that Hairston hit a homer? Suzynn Waldman and Sterling are killing the guy and Torre for bringing him in.

6-0 for Beckett. The trade isn't looking so bade right now, especially with Anibel Sanchez coming back to earth.

    Very nice catch by Coco.

Nice hit by Drew. It's about time.
  16. a700hitter
Can Drew get something by the second baseman?
  17. a700hitter
    just call Clemens

Jima is money. Can Snyder handle the pressure of the 9th. This can't sit well with Timlin.

This is why I don't get all excited about prospects. There are too many pitfalls. If he is injured, it is way too common a story. I remember reading an article in the 70's where Fisk was interviewed during Spring Training. He said that he didn't bother to talk to rookies in Camp, because they have very little chance of making the team and he didn't see any reason to develop a relationship with people that would be gone in a couple of weeks. At the time I though it was a little cold, but now I see his point. I'll get worked up about lester or Bucholz when they have 150+ innings under their belts in a year and 10 wins.

    This is so surprising!

It looks like Cora will keep Pedroia on the bench.
  23. a700hitter
He's couple of years away from making an impact, but it would have been interesting to watch him develop. Now, he has had a setback like most young pitchers.
  24. a700hitter
It's no big deal. He'd be going back to the minors soon anyway. There would be no room for him once Pavano rejoins the rotation.
