  1. Great pitchers can win when they don't have their best stuff. That's why they are great pitchers. Plenty of guys have really good stuff and are .500 pitchers.
  2. I trealize the realities of the situation, but we are only speaking hypothitically here. If you have a chance to get a stud like Andruw Jones, Oswalt etc., you do it and let the pointy headed numbers guys tell you how to make it work. Maybe you salary dump another guy on your roster, restructure a contract, or something else. There are numerous ways to make things work financially when you have the resources of the Red Sox.
  3. There goes the perfect game, the no-no and the shutout. Tooooo baaaaddd! Yankee piece of trash. Is Proctor or Vizcaino warming yet? Time to go to dinner.
  4. If he loses the no-no and his pitch count gets over 100, will Torre go to Proctor...maybe Vizcaino again?
  5. True, and I must admit that those 15-11 debacles are pretty interesting.
  6. Who is going crazy. It's the only game on right now. Fox screwed up and has two crappy teams on this weekend. The game is a complete bore except for the fact that Wang has the perfect game going. Otherwise, I'd be on my way to dinner.
  7. Listen to the fans of the last place team going crazy.
  8. Thank you Jeff Weaver.
  9. Seattle has the top of the order batting next inning. Wang will lose not only the no-no, but the shut out and the lead.
  10. The fans of the last place team are getting very excited on every pitch.
  11. 5 2/3 perfect innings by Wang. Itg's about time to pop the Hammy.
  12. Listen to these announcers talk about Wang's broken nail like he is a warrior or something. He has a hang nail! Whoopee! What a tough guy and competitor! Please someone take this girly man wimp deep and shut up the announcers.
  13. I can't believe that they have not re-scored the Jeter bunt which clearly should have been scored as a Sacrifice Bunt and a Fielders Choice. The lead runner would have been out by a lot if the 3B had been on the base. Jeter easily would have been out if Weaver had thrown to 1st.
  14. You have to give the guy credit if he picked GS in the contest. That's really going out on a limb, and no one expected them to advance past the first round.
  15. That was ruled a hit for Jeter? It seems like that should be a fielders choice. He obviously would have been out at 1B if Weaver threw to 1B.
  16. Giambi runs like a slug.
  17. Hmmm. Very tempting. Too bad Bonds would probably not agree to the move.
  18. I really like how the fans in RF call out the players names at the start of the Yankee games. I guess fans of a last place team need to do something to amuse themselves.
  19. Your sarcasm is noted. Ellsbury is the most talented position player in the system, so he should be the one that they hold onto. The others: Murphy, Moss etc are basically trading chips. The point is that very, very few players come up through the organization and make an immediate impact. It's up to the FO to figure out the one or two that will make it and keep only them. It's not an exact science and most organizations are wrong more often than not in making these predictions. That being said if Ellsbury could get you an Andruw Jones-type player under a long term contract, the FO would be foolish not to make the move for the established super star. Right now, there is not a young very talented CF that is under contract beyond this year.
  20. His bat would be great to have, but we have a DH, and I couldn't see Bonds or Manny holding down RF.
  21. No, he has quite a bit more offensive talent than Stern. He could get some starts if Crisp slumps or if one of the other OFs get injured. Right now, there is no need for an additional OF er. I was discussing it in the context of a need for a 4th OFer. If we need to call one up, it should be Ellsbury. I realize that there are roster considerations, so they may not want to place him on the 40 man roster, because they would have to drop someone.
  22. Your sarcasm is noted my bitch to be.
