  1. They had to send a ballboy out to the Ray's pen to tell them to pick up the phone.
  2. Their bullpen couldn't hear the phone.
  3. Moose's ball turns into a watermelon after 75+ pitches. Hunter hit a long double right before the homer.
  4. In 1973, I went to Yankee Stadium and watched the Red Sox beat the Yankees in a Double Header 2-1, 1-0. The winning run in the first game was scored by Yaz in the top of the 9th from second base on an attempted double play ball. Sparky Lyle lost game one in relief of Stottlemyre. I think Yaz drove in the only run of the nightcap with a single. Rogelio (we used to call him Roger) Moret hurled the shutout beating Doc Medich (not sure). Moret was a real Yankee-killer. I was at the stadium for two shutouts that he pitched against the Yankees. This date in Red Sox History 1973.
  5. When Moose hits 75 pitches, he starts to have problems.
  6. Hinske robbed Ellsbury of an IF hit.
  7. They should have signed Gonzo for two years for $5 million from the beginning. Instead they opted to sign him for 1 year, and he built up his market value. Two years for $5 million is chump chang and even if Gonzo bombed out in 2006, it would not have broken the 2007 bank.
  8. Mirabelli finally doing something to earn his check.
  9. The kid is not even a tiny bit intimidated at this level. I could see that in him at ST. Here comes Dougie to end the inning.
  10. What about Bobby Doerr?
  11. He's still only 23. The big dudes like him take longer to get consistent with their delivery.
  12. He dragged the bunt going for the base hit. It was not a sacrifice or a squezze play.
  13. Plus, he was a Yankee-killer.
  14. This lineup should give Wake at least one run today.
  15. Tomo Okha played with Pedro in NY. He was moved for inmate Ugie Urbina. I forgot about Robinson Checo. The FO had us all worked up about him. He was 1 and 3 for the Red Sox between 1997 and 98. They paid him nearly $1 million in 1997. What the F were they thinking.
  16. WMP with 4 k's tonight. Yikes!
  17. With an 8-0 lead Torre brought in Proctor to get some work.
