    The FO needs to get some help for this team and not sit on its hands. Thos of you who think this is a temporary slump are in denial. We have been mediocre for some time already, and now since Schilling has been taken from the rotation, they are approaching full stink mode.

    20/20 hindsight? There are several posts from me in the offseason and ST where I recommended selling high on Youk.

    Yes, the same Helton that is winning my bet, because his road OPS is .30 more than Youk's. The bet was that Helton would not do better than .20 rooad OPS above Youk. They are going in different directions those two players, but that should be expected. One of them is an all-time elite hitter. The other one is a nice player with limited skills.

    I stick by my assessment of Pedroia in ST. Good hands, below average speed, average arm, below average power. His upside is Mark Loretta. Pretty dead on wouldn't you say. It has nothing to do with vet vs youth. You don't ever hear me criticize Papelbon, Beckett, or Ellsbury do you?

    When I saw him throw in person last spring I was completely underwhelmed after hearing so much about him. There was no 95 mph heater, no pinpoint command. He walked 3 in a row and he was throwing upper 80's at best. I got beat up all over this site for my evaluation.

    He may only be a 5 inning pitcher. We don't know if his secondary pitches are good enough to get him through an order 3 times. He's an awesome closer. Why mess with excellence?
