  1. Homajima just gave up the lead.
  2. You never saw that with Mirabelli behind the plate. Strike em out throw em out.
  3. I have a nephew who is a luxury box owner for the NY Mets. I have gotten to know his host very well as my nephew has invited me to several Met sponsored functions. The Met host has a close friend who works with the Red Sox. He told me that he would put in a word with his friend if I wanted season tickets. He did, but nothing could be done. You need to know someone very high up the food chain for the Sox to make an exception. Of course you are very young and they are bound to suck again at sometime during your adult years and things will loosen up then.
  4. Another conspiracy.:shock:Stupidly, I was attributing it to lucky coincidence.
  5. But as is typical of Yankee luck, Tori Hunter (who is red hot) is going on bereavement leave because his granny died. Of course Frank Big Hurt Thomas will be back with the A's this weekend.
  6. I wasn't crazy about Hansen. I thought he had great stuff, but he is still a project. Nevertheless, I think he is better than Duseldorf.
  7. Bostonownsyou is obviously very upset, but his fears may not be totally unfounded. I fear that Bay's inadequacies as compared to Manny will be resented as they are exposed to RSN night after night. I could see him being the target of boo birds within a month.
  8. I skipped work as usual to see opening day the year we got Manny and I was really excited to see him. He was already a huge superstar and he hit a Homer on the first pitch he saw if I remember correctly. I knew then that a new era had dawned for the Red Sox.
  9. The truly infuriating thing is that the Pirates got 4 good quality prospects for Bay when they got 4 so-so prospects for Marte and Nady combined.
  10. Three players and $7 million for Jason Bay. The Red Sox got shafted. The Dodgers got Manny for free for two prospects. The Pirates got 4 guys for Bay. We got the short end of the deal by a long shot.
  11. ...and he was tremendously entertaining while forming one-half of a historic tandem.
  12. In '04, an unproductive injured player was traded, and the guys we received in return upgraded the defense. OCab and Minky were Gold Glovers and Dave Roberts brought the element of speed. He got thrown out 1 time in over 30 attempts up to that point. Where would the upgrades be here? Bay is a downgrade and Grabow is an average bullpen guy.
  13. That is this year. Have you checked the rest of their careers?
  14. Why would we want Grabow? He's an average NL bullpen guy in a low pressure town. 4.35 career ERA. http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/grabojo02.shtml
  15. Bay strikes out 140-150 times every year. He is not even close at this age to the aging Manny. We will hate this guy within a month.
  16. The problem with trading Manny is that Theo is a Menage a trois guy. He can never just make a two team trade. He always is working on three and four team scenarios. It is hard enough to get two teams to agree on the money, players and prospects. It's much more difficult to tie down a three team deal.
  17. He was injured and he didn't have 20 HRs and almost 70 RBI at the deadline.
  18. I noticed Manny touching fists with another plater in the 9th inning on the bench. Maybe he knows that he's out of town.
