  1. Tito disclosed that he has had the herniated disc for a long time. They were relieved that the MRI revealed only the old injury. They need the spasming to calm down.
  2. The team needs some bench depth.
  3. What a s***** tandem Coco and Ellsbury. They need another hitter.
  4. Coco is useless and here comes the other half of the anti-OrtizManny 1-2 punch.
  5. One the spasm stops and the stiffness goes away, he should be okay provided his vaginosis doesn't kick up again.
  6. They are optimistic that with some anti-inflammatory drugs that he will be able to avoid a trip to the DL. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/08/22/boston_of_jd_drew_has_herniated_disk_in_back/
  7. Not good news about Drew. He's getting an MRI on his back and he will not be in the lineup anytime soon. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  8. Pavano's Saturday start is must see TV.
  9. Vernon Wells will be pissed when he finds out that Beckett will not be pitching.
  10. Looking at Girardi on the bench, can anyone figure out if he is winning or losing?
  11. I am glad that the Jays are using up all their offense tonight.
  12. 7-0 Jays. 7 earned runs in 2 innings for Pigson.
  13. Tonight Pigson looked every bit the pig that he is. Jays 5-0 so far and Pigson went 2 innings. His good starts were very misleading, because he just stinks.
  14. I'll take Sheets.
  15. If you removed Bucholz from this rotation with his 2-9 record and replaced him with a Paul Byrd -type who would pitch to a .500 record, the Sox would be neck and neck with Tampa. They stayed toooo long with this kid. One or two starts since he returned from the minors, it was clear to most of us that it was not going to happen for him this season. What took the FO so long? If the Sox don't make the playoffs, the performance of Bucholz and his horrendous 2-9 record will be the biggest factor.
  16. I have not changed my mind. From the beginning, I would have made this trade. I still think that Ellsbury has the potential to be a star, but who knows. He's got to make some major adjustments to get to that level. Buucholz maybe wrecked after this season. This season has been a disaster for him, and it will not be easy for him to recover. It is not like he had a terrible season with a young s***** team like the Nationals. He is on the Boston Red Sox, a team with more than $100 million in talent behind him when he pitches. He is pitching for a team with a top offense and a good defense, and he failed miserably. I believe that the other trade that was being offered was Lester, Crisp and Bowden or Masterson. I would have made that trade also, and I stand by that decision now too. Crisp stinks. He is a one way player with a terribly weak arm and his breaks on balls have reverted to his pre- 2007 years. Lester is looking great, but Santana is and will continue to be a top echelon pitcher. Very few guys are in his league. I would have done either of the trades at the time, and IMO getting Santana would have garnered two more championships in the next 3 years, especially if the Twins took the package with Ellsbury.
  17. I agree. This kid is a long way from Major League success, and he needs to be sent down. Who will be taking his place in the rotation?
  18. I am surprised that Jackson has not chimed in to tell us that Beckett's symptoms are signs of advanced Lupus or something and that he'll be dead in a month.
  19. ...or maybe he has always had trouble with Toronto, especially Wells, and they'd rather he pitch against the Yankees.
  20. Let's hope that he is going to be okay. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2008/08/19/yaz_hospitalized_in_boston/
