The Yankees have been dead for some time already. I don't know how they could have any hope after this game. They have been beaten by our 4th and 5th starters with a squad that is so thin that the Red Sox played 3 rookies last night, plus Cash and Crisp, and the Red Sox beat them up. Tonight we replaced one of the rookies (Bailey) with Cora (who is less of a threat than Bailey) and they kicked the living s*** out of the Yankees. Beckett, Drew, Lowell, Casey not available. No more Manny. How could they beat the Yankees so soundly? I'll tell you my opinion. This Yankee team has no heart, none whatsoever. They are dead. Get them down and they rollover and play dead. The Red Sox, as shorthanded as they are, clearly wanted these games much more than the Yankees. The hits in garbage time against old man Timlin were meaningless. This lack of heart and determination and poor fundamentals I lay right at the feet of Girardi. As bad as I thought Torre was as a game manager, his teams always played hard for him. This team quit on Girardi some time ago. I hope he gets a 10 year contract.
While Bay is not Manny Ramirez, he does not shrink from the big spot. He had 4 more RBI agaisnt the Yankees tonight with a left center gap double and a right center gap triple. And can enough be said about the little second baseman. I knew he was going to clear the bases, but I thought it would be a double, not a grand salami. What a player! Again Ellsbury, Crisp, Tek, Lowrie all hit. This is the week part of the order, but they came up big.
