    If he is available now on waivers just as a salary dump, I would venture to guess that he would have been available prior to the deadline. Maybe if the Sox ageed to take Rios, Ricciardi might have lowered the price for Halladay.

    There is a report on MLB.com that Alex Rios has been claimed off waivers by an undisclosed team. Toronto is considering what action to take. Ricciardi won't comment on Rios report

    With Penny and Smoltz we got a $10 million sack of s***. Some of us saw this coming.. Low risk moves....yeah right. Maybe that is true for the opposing batters who have beatem them mercilessly.

    Give the newbie a chance. Too many time we turn obnoxious on a new poster and chase them away. What was done to that guy who complained about players not signing autographs was despicable. It was a completely valid point and no reason to attack the guy. That's how he felt about the players. A lot of players are major immature a-holes, yet we chopped up the poster telling him he was an idiot to feel the way he felt. Knock off the feeding frenzy on the newbies unless the are conspiracy theorists or yankee fans.

    They are in a position where every start by Lester and Beckett are must win games. It is unfair and unrealistic to expect that from them, but that's what is needed. The other three rotation slots are close to useless, despite all of our depth.

    He's a good athlete. He may be needed to play the OF. I heard that Buchholz has some wheels. Maybe he could help in the OF.

    I just about swallowed my tongue. Any day now Nick Green will be in the OF.

    Maybe the plan is for when the rosters expand to have a game sharing arrangement. For example, Wakefield and Penny will each pitch 4 innings out of the 3rd slot. Dice K and Byrd will share the 4th slot, and Smoltz and Buchholz will share the 5th slot.

    Is Byrd a solution? In his best days, he was a 5 inning pitcher, and he will not be ready until September.
