If we get swept by the Yankees and we are still in the lead for the wild card, I really will not feel that bad. How much worse could things get than losing 6 in a row to the Rays and Yankees? Things have to get better from there. Clay's outing was encouraging. We have rid ourselves of the human forfeit, Smoltz. Maybe Dice K will come back strong in September and help them go on a run. -
We would have gotten two additional out in LF though.

So far playing Kotchman over Reddick hasn't paid off offensively.

Yeah, at the end of 1973, he played a handful of games at 3B when Petrocelli was on the DL. There was no NESN back then and not many games were televised. I don't think there is any footage of him playing third. I remember he made three errors either in one game, possibly one inning. A day or so later he destroyed the yanks with two HRs. In one of the NY papers there was an article that said Yaz had done 5 things that he hadn't done recently. He hit 2 HRs and he made 3 plays without making an error.

that's a BS call by the home plate ump inserting himself into the game in a game changing situation. He should've asked the 3rd base ump. It was not a clear cut swing. I hate when umps jump at the chance to be part of the game.

He works at sports facility in the DR that Ortiz uses. He's not Ortiz'z trainer. From what I have read, all of the Dominican guys use this facility, but maybe Dipre can shed some light on this. -
How many consecutive scoreless innings has our offense had... 23, 24? VMart has not been the shot in the arm that I expected he would be.

A good outing by Buchholz against a very tough lineup. I expected a bloddbath toady. Hopefully, he can build on this outing. He needs to step up if this team is going to have a chance.
