  1. After two walks to load the bases, Drew swung at the first pitch in a 1-0 game and grounded out. I didn't expect that.
  2. How many fantasy points for a perfecto. lol!!
  3. He did it!
  4. The one good thing is that some pretty good SPs keep showing up on the waiver wire.
  5. Thank you Beltre for killing our leadoff hitter. The biggest blow to this team this season has been losing Ellsbury for an extended time. Now, he is back on the DL. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2010/05/29/ellsbury_bumped_back_on_dl/
  6. Guardians pitcher Huff just got hit in the head by a line drive from ARod and the ball went into RF. Not pretty.
  7. At least the Rays and Price got beat by trash too.
  8. I have been having trouble with my NESN feed so I have been watching the KC feed. In the first two innings their announcers remarked several times that Wakes ball was not diving in the zone and that it was acting like a hanging curve. I left to do a couple of things expecting Wake to get bashed after hearing that. Question: If the Royal's announcers could see that his knuckler was flat, why would Tito leave him in for that horrific beating?
  9. Sore? 8 walks worth of sore? This is the type of big league pitcher that he has been since he got here. Maybe the soreness accounted for 2 or 3 of the walks, but 5 is very common for him. Again let's not make too much out of the Philly game, they just got swept by the Mets who shut them down with R.A. Dickey, a 37 year old bullpen pitcher from Japan, and Pelfrey. Is Dice K scum? No, but he is pretty close to what we saw last night. He's much closer to that than what we saw on Saturday night.
  10. Another annoying thing is how the whining prima dona constantly makes excuses for sucking. Theobshould call Houston and try to unload this Japanese National Treasure plus a prospect for Oswalt, who is a bulldog.
  11. A comment on the job Dice K did on the Phillies American league style lineup. The Mets just completed a sweep of the Phillies with Pelfrey and two bags of garbage. The Philly lineup is slumping right now. Let's not read too much into that Dice K start. Thursday night was closer to his norm. He's basically a 5 inning pitcher that walks a ton of guys and has you pulling the hair out of your head. That is what he has been since he arrived. It hasn't changed. Saturday was the aberration.
  12. They did not take care of business tonight. They should have blown them out of the water.
  13. This game is pissing me off. This should have been a slam dunk at Fenway.
  14. He could get to the ball. He had good hands, but he had bad hands. He would drop balls.
  15. I have described him as Mike Greenwell without the speed and grace.
  16. Same old s*** from Dice K. He's as inconsistent as any pitcher the Sox have had in a long time. Even Wakefield is more consistent with the knuckleball. Does Hermida take any practice in LF. He doesn't know the wind currents-- the easiest aspect of playing LF, and he also has not figured out some of the easier caroms.
  17. There are no moving parts involved and no displaced or other unhealed fracture. Can't they give him lydocaine (sp) or another pain killer to get him back on the field?
  18. As with the myth of Drew hate which was thoroughly debunked in a recent poll, I think you have over-dramatized the Beltre hate. No one with any credibility suggested cutting him. I only brought up Ortiz to put the Beltre hate in context. Less than 100 ABs and people wanted to send him to the glue farm. I still can't believe it. Beltre had several f*** ups early on and deserved criticism, but no one knowledgeable or responsible and certainly no one in the press suggested cutting him. As for outperforming Bay, you might get to enjoy that for longer than you think. It was a hot night at Citifield last night and the ball was carrying, but that ballpark still played big. Several balls were caught for outs to left and right fields that would have been out of Citizens Bank Field. The outfield is just so massive there. I know that you are basking in the glow of last night, but what possibilities do you see with regard to the personnel moves after this season with Beltre and VMart?
  19. LOL@ all the Beltre threads. At the beginning of the season, he played a few games with his head up his ass at 3rd base. I don't think anyone questioned his ability to play good defense, except maybe for Jacko who was clearly breaking balls. After last night's game, he is on pace to hit 20-25 HRs, which is about his career norm. Hitting behind a hot Ortiz all year could move that number up closer to 30. The abuse Beltre took was nowhere near what Ortiz experienced. So, many people buried had buried Ortiz when he had far less than 100 ABs. He was about 70 ABs into the season and people wanted to release him. That ******* Rosenthal even floated the unsubstantiated and probably completely fabricated rumor that the Sox were going to cut him. The piece of s*** Rosenthal was probably trolling TalkSox for the rumor. No one was talking about DFA'ing Beltre- no one. The fact is that Beltre had. Uncharacteristically made too many errors early in the season (most of the mental variety) some of which cost games and he was justifiably criticized for it. Now that he is performing as expected, the Sox FO is still presented with a conundrum for 2011. If he continues to perform, he probably opts out of his 2011 contract and walks. Would the consequence of that be that the Sox sign VMart to play first base while moving Youk across the diamond to third? If Beltre doesn't perform and he exercises his 2011 option to stay with the Sox, do the Sox let Vmart walk, because he is not a good full time catcher? There would only be room for him if the FO let's Ortiz walk, and I don't see that happening if he hits 30 HR s and 100+ RBI. The FO options are better and more clear cut if Beltre performs and walks IMO. What do you think?
  20. A few things: When Beltre's 2nd HR was reported on the scoreboard at CitiField, Bay was seen hanging his head in shame. Beltre's power surge was so awesome that it knocked out the power in half my neighborhood. I returned to a dark house and I am posting on a s***** Blackberry. The radio did report that a smashed banjo was found outside of the Red Sox locker room with a note that simply said: "I am done with this" Lastly, during Beltre's last AB on Tuesday night, I posted in the GT that it was about time for the banjo hitter to go deep. As the Old Professor Casey Stengal used to say: "you can look it up." Tonight: Two HRs and a Triple. I remain TalkSox great sage seer and soothsayer. Lol!!
  21. Ortiz with another bomb. Let's get rid of him and free up some payroll so we can sign A backup catcher. Lol! Screw it. Cut him now and bring up Danny whatever his name is. He's earned it.
