  1. Cash had a big impact playing every day for 10 days or 2 weeks that seemed like a year when VMart and Tek were both down.
  2. I wasn't looking for them to go nuts, but they did nothing. The Twins, Rays, Yankees, White Sox, Rangers, Phillies, and Braves all made moves to improve their team
  3. I didn't expect them to make a big splashy bold move or trade, but I do believe a little fine tuning was needed and could have been done. I'm not going to get specific as to guys I think might have been available, because that would just be baseless speculation. There were a few catchers that have been moved. We desperately needed a catcher that could hit a little once Varitek went down. Using Cash as a primary catcher for a couple of weeks put a tremendous blackhole in an already weakened lineup. I do believe that a backup catcher and one bullpen arm might have made a difference. We could still make this race close, so this team was not a lost cause despite the fact that everything that could go wrong went wrong. I've stated my belief before about one or two pieces changing the dynamic of a game or a team. I'm not looking to change any one else's mind. It's just my opinion. Maybe the term "throw in the towel" is not correct, but they did stand pat. We both agree on that.
  4. Austin Kearns
  5. Even if we didn't have Papelbon or Bard, and even if that prospect had no opportunity of being a backup catcher for the Sox? I wouldn't be pissed. I'd be happy to have closer to get us to the playoffs.
  6. That's a very reasonable cost for a 26 year old top closer who doesn't hit the FA market until 2012. I don't think that is a bad cost, especially since that prospect is a catcher and he has nowhere to go in the Twins organization behind Mauer. At most he would be a backup catcher for the Twins. Turning your potential backup catcher into a starting 26 year old closer is a pretty good deal. As you pointed out we don't know who will be the PTBNL, but Fuentes is a really quality bullpen arm.
  7. The BS public relations cover story has always been that the price was too high and we don't want to sacrifice the future. What have the Twins given up for Capps and Fuentes. Fuentes was landed for a Player to be named later. That doesn't sound like a devastation for the Twins farm system. A lot of players moved to contenders, and did any of them really have too high of a price tag? I think they banked on getting players back from injury in time to help and they miscalculated. This season was not a lost cause. One or two acquisitions could have made a huge difference without paying too steep a price. The FO flubbed it this season. That's my opinion.
  8. Wow! They have added Capps and Fuentes-- two closers from other teams, and the Twins are small market.
  9. Whenever you hear the "electric stuff" description about a pitcher, he is either unproven or he just can't get his s*** together a sucks. When I hear that I guy is available and he has electric stuff, I don't want him. Didn't Matt (Cement Head) Clement have electric stuff?
  10. As great as the pitching was tonight, the difference in tonight's game was 2 bonehead running plays and no Carl Crawford. With 7 walks, the outcome might be different if Crawford is in the lineup.
  11. Game Ova! Sox win!! 1 down 2 more to go! Cue Dirty Water in Boston. Pitching was dominant tonight.
  12. I really hate Jaso in this spot.
  13. Winning run at the plate. Papelbon is f***ing around again. s***!!! Pay attention. Dope!!
  14. Papelbon dominated Longoria and Zobrist. Don't choke it away to Dan Johnson.
  15. Papelbon is f***ing around again.
  16. Maddon has been going with the B team from the pen.
  17. Sox 11 hits 3 runs Rays 3 hits 1 run The 5 walks didn't hurt us too much.
  18. Agreed. If this was game 3, I'd have gone to the horse in the pen too, but we need two more games.
  19. Tito went with the formula-- Bard in the 8th. I would have stayed with the hot hand, Lester. Let's hope Tito is right. I also would've like to keep Bard fresh for tomorrow and Sunday.
