  1. In english we would say that it was a weasel-worded answer. There is a time and a place for such answers. This topic did not call for such an answer. It made him look weak and indecisive. It's not the first impression that he should be giving. Hopefully, they don't ask him something tough like whether they will have single or double ply paper in the bathrooms. He might have to kick that up to the puppet master LL. Lol!
  2. The "no sound moves" remark was hyperbole limited to the last 3-4 years. I am skeptical the Sox can really move forward by staying with an inhouse candidate.
  3. Let me get this straight. Baseball players drinking beer is a crisis, but a manager who gets caught snorting coke in the clubhouse is a winner? The world makes no sense anymore.
  4. But I already knew that all those guys were better than Lackey. If someone wanted to know, all they had to do was ask me.
  5. A few random thoughts from Abraham's article today:
  6. This is going to be LL's team with Cherrington as the mouthpiece-- just as it was with Theo. LL gave Theo enough rope to hang himself, and he did that rather quickly. He didn't make a sound move in the last 3-4 years.
  7. There is no way that he was better in 2010 than Clay Buchholz, Tim Hudson, David Price, Mat Latos, Chris Carpenter, Trevor Cahill, Cole Hamels, and Matt Cain.
  8. What do you think? If you don't see your choice, write in options are encouraged. We have to get this deal done. Maybe we can help these two clueless organizations to move ahead and get this done. Edit: To clarify- The Theo's baggage option means that the Cubs take Theo's baggage.
  9. Welcome to TalkSox. It looks like it should be a very interesting off season. I hate these long off seasons when the Sox don't make the playoffs. Hopefully, they will get this ridiculous front office situation straightened out. Screw the compensation. Just have the Cubs take all of Theo's acquisitions for the last 3 seasons. BTW Sele had a hell of a curveball.
  10. I could live with Salty as a back up, but not as a starter. Maybe Theo will look to pluck him away from us in a trade. I really don't think Lavarnway could be worse behind the dish. Salty has terrible hands.
  11. My goodness you are such a Theo devotee. Everything is not about Theo. Red Sox Nation is in a post-Theo world. It shouldn't be too tough to move into the future. Cubs fans are the ones that need to be concerned. Unlike in Boston where Theo was handed the keys of a powerhouse, he'll be starting from scratch in Chicago.
  12. It's all tied at 1 game apiece. The difference in this Series could end up being the bullpens-- advantage Texas. Otherwise the teams match-up very well.
  13. It will be a short thread.
  14. The compensation should have been decided in advance of the Sox giving the Cubs the right to talk to Theo. It was done ass-backwards. Both sides are in an untenable position to back out at this point.
  15. Sorry, but during the middle of the season I said that he was adequate and that I'd be happy if hit .250. In the end, he was not adequate.
  16. Ooops. I was just responding to a post about Salty, who by the way ended up like a bag of suck.
  17. The Rangers moved Salty and got Napoli. The Ranger FO made the better move.
  18. The Red Sox have given Curt Young permission to talk to the A's abut their opening for a pitching coach. Good. This guy was as useless as tits on a bull. Hopefully, the 3rd base coach, Bogar will get a one way ticket too.
  19. LOL @ this whole thing with the Cubs. We're acting like we are moving a star player. He's a lame duck front office geek. He can't possibly return to the Sox at this point. We don't want him and everyone knows it except for E1. The Cubs would have to be dumber than dumb to give us anything of value for him. This is a guy whose last 3 years have been very bad. He's managed to take the perennial second place team that he inherited from Duquette and turn it into a team that finishes 3rd half of the time. LoL! The whole situation is absurd.
  20. So much for the reliability of Fangraphs.:thumbdown
