  1. Reddick, Lavarnway, Scutaro, and Salty as the bottom 4 in the lineup is not going to scare anyone. That puts a lot of pressure on the top 5. Ellsbury would have to continue where he left off. Youk would have to stay healthy, and Crawford would need to return to his Tampa days. If one or more of those things don't happen, the offensive performance couldbe very inconsistent. Even if the top 5 produce, the lineup would be considerably weaker with out a high performing Ortiz. When he was out of the lineup last season, the offense flat-lined except for 1 game. I have every reason to believe that pulling Ortiz out of the lineup without a potent replacement would weaken the lineup. Assuming that Lavarnway can fill Ortiz shoes in 2012 is just not reasonable.
  2. Tiant was a great big game pitcher. When he had stuff in his younger days, he was unbeatable. In his latter years,he was an artist on the mound, and just when you thought all he had was junk, he'd climb the ladder with 3 straight fastballs to strike out Bobby Bonds. The guys was masterful during seasons when Fenway was a launching pad--before the additional structures were added changing the wind patterns
  3. No one is giving up on him, but I don't think he is in their future plans either.
  4. What's your point? Does that make them good decisions?
  5. I'll say it again. This is a strategy that would have the Red Sox watching the Post Season from their couches for 3 more years. Stop the whining about yankee money. The Sox have got plenty of money. Unfortunately, Theo squandered a boatload of it before leaving for Chicago.
  6. Did he pull a hamstring on the way out the door?
  7. Yes get rid of all our stars and get lots of draft picks and prospects. 2015 tickets will be really hard to get, but there will be no meaningful September games befor 2015.
  8. I think Cuddyer would be a good addition, but I'd rather have Carlos Beltran. Cuddyer is solid, but Beltran is a stud.
  9. Cost should not be a major consideration for the Red Sox this off season. They need to return the team to prominence quickly. Missing the playoffs two seasons in a row and last season's debacle damaged the franchise. If there are no meaning full games in late August or September 2012, the damage could start hitting their bottom line.
  10. How much must Padre fans hate Jed Hoyer? He was the San Diego GM for 2 seasons during which he traded their biggest star for some prospects from Boston. One year after he trades AGon and rolls out a totally s*** team, he beats it out of town to go to Chicago. Good luck to Cubs fans. At least they don't have any big stars for Hoyer to give away.
  11. 4th OFers don't win Gold Gloves.
