  1. Knee micro-surgery is the explanation, not a series of mystery strains and tweaks.
  2. In over 30, 000 posts (I need to do more with my life:lol:), you and other long termers should realize that I am not a one trick pony. Just because i have a philosophy about the prospects doesn't mean that I'd be giving away the jewels. We just don't have many jewels right now, not at any level. Sure some of the guys at the lower levels might be highly thought of, but there is not many who are big time blue chippers. I am disappointed that after all this time that you still think I am one-dimensional in my views.
  3. And a reliever comes off the Board
  4. And Beltran comes off the board. My Christmas wish list is disappearing fast. Garza is still available.
  5. The guy couldn't catch a fly ball. He wasn't just overmatched at bat. I hope he can be included in a trade package. It would be his only value for the Sox.
  6. The talent in our system is not very highly rated. I'm not the one that rates 'em. Also, telling me how I I would react in a hypothetical situation is irrelevant and obnoxious.
  7. Santana was pretty awesome in 2008, and we were very close. Lester did lose the final game. I wasn't using Hazelmaker to degrade the whole system. Right up front, I stated my opinion that our system has little talent. Hazlebaker, is just a guy with a funny name that I made a remark about. He proves nothing one way or the other, and i wasn't using him in that way.
  8. I view Saunders as a depth move and a swing man to fill Aceves old role. I don't like Oswalt's or Bailey's injury history at all. There is no obvious move. Maybe Edwin Jackson becomes a target, but he will not be cheap. Garza is probably on the radar ahead of Jackson.
  9. No Gio for the Sox. Next up... ?
  10. If Beltran is down to the Jays, Rays and Cards, I have to bet that it will be the Cards. I don't see that playing on turf in Toronto or Tamps would be in the best interests of his knees.
  11. I think Beltran would have been a great fit in the lineup. He could have shared some time with Kalish. Beltran's knees should probably not be pushed beyond 140 games in the OF. Kalish could also spell Ellsbury and Crawford, and with injuries, he'd probably pick up close to 300 ABs. After signing Ortiz, Beltran didn't fit the payroll. Too bad. He is an extraordinary talent, even though he has been slowed a bit by his knees.
  12. Earlier in the week, I read that Beltran was expected to make a decision by this weekend.
  13. They are moving closer to a trade, but it doesn't say that a trade is close. We shall see.
  14. Or Johan may have helped the Sox win back to back championships by winning in 2008. We were very close in 2008. Very very close. And let's face it, it has been downhill since 2008. So, even though we didn't get johan and his injury and we didn't get the back to back championships in 2007 and 2008, we are still trying to recover. BTW, none of the trade packages offered for Johan included both Ellsbury and Lester. It was one or the other. As for Hazelbaker, early in this thread people had him in the Sox top 10 prospect list. The only top 10 list that I could see him making is a stupid names list.
  15. At City of Palms Park, as you know, the Sox used the 3rd base dugout, probably because it got the most shade. Whichever side of the field will get the most shade at JetBlue Park will be the side the Sox will take. That's my guess.
  16. They used to say the same thing in the 60's and 70's.
  17. I believe that one of Bobby V's first managers was Dick Williams. Williams would give post game interviews calling out players and he do it right near their locker so they could overhear it. Personal issues should be dealt with in house. Game performance doesn't need to stay in house. If a guy throws to the wrong base or makes some other fundamental miscue, there is no reason not to call it out in the press. The fans already saw it. Everyone knows it. There's no reason to tip toe around feelings with that stuff. I have no problem with this phone call business either. Let Bobby V send a message early that when he has something to say, he expects people to listen. They don't have to like him.
  18. Reading through this thread confirms for me what t I had been suspecting for some time-- that our farm system is pretty weak. There are few if any jewels among that rubble. Thank goodness we traded a few of the players on the original list in return for a bona fide superstar. It has long been my philosophy that the highest and best use of prospects for a team like the Red Sox is as trading chips. Hazlebaker? Goodness! That kid has no future in the majors. We saw him a couple of years in a row at the end of spring training. Not very impressive. He was so bad one night that it was truly embarrassing. Small sample size? Yes, but his play was not even close to major league prospect play.
  19. It's just part of Jackoi's shtick. You shouldn't let it get to you. He's. A master pot stirrer. I don't mind when he throws water all over our hopes. He's a Yankee fan. That is what they do. He has other techniques that bother me. At this time of year, he might jump on the bandwagon about the Sox getting some player that he knows will not help the team. This is one of his more subtle and devious techniques, because he'll validate a number of Sox fans about the player. Recently, someone suggested getting Arthur Rhodes, who has specialized in choking, but he has made choking to the Yankees an art form. I was waiting for Jacko to jump in with great compliments about Rhodes. He must have been busy that day and missed that post, because he said nothing. His most annoying technique is his very lame way of hexing the Sox. He'll declare our victories as complete prematurely when we are still biting our nails down to the bone. Just remember, if you let him know that he's gotten under your skin, you are giving him exactly what he wants.
  20. I would expect that Cain and Hamel will also be extended by their teams. Anyone who is looking forward to freeing up money to be used on those guys after 2012 is hoping for something that will not even be a possibility.
  21. Hopefully, Theo will not try to screw with Luchinno by sending us the twin brother.
