  1. We don't need a #2. We have Beckett and Lackey.
  2. BSN07 you are a little sneaky. You pay up on our bet after most Red Sox fans want to kill CC. And you removed from your sig another bet that I was about to win, because we are not going to have any farmhand make any impact on our team until 2013. I made that claim during last off season. BTW, I didn't consider Kalish a farmhand at that time as he had lost MLB rookie status. The way it looks now he will still not make an impact before 2013. Very sneaky, sneaking out that sig.
  3. Theo, in a genius of a move, canceled a Harden for Lars Anderson trade at the trading deadline due to concerns regarding his medical records. He could have come in handy down the stretch as we kept rolling Wakefield and other assorted garbage to the mound. I don't know what he could have been thinking.:dunno:
  4. Sam McDowell, Tiant in his Indian years, Lolich, Chance, McLain, Palmer, Carlton, Tannana and on and on.
  5. They threw hard and they threw more often.
  6. I think the Sox had only a .500 record in Lester's starts.
  7. Webb and Sheets and Harden are guys that are much better than half way decent when healthy. That's why they want the option to demand a promotion or a release when healthy so they can re-establish a career. For depth, you are looking for guys that are healthy and only halfway decent.
  8. Start printing the playoff tickets.
  9. You want to get him now or after 2012?
  10. I wouldn't propose those guys, because it is highly likely that they will be unable to perform due to injury when we suffer an injury to one of the starters. That's not depth that I want. I'd rather sign Saunders as a depth signing and keep him in the pen.
  11. Guys like Harden, Webb and Sheets might not be able to take the ball at all. I don't see the point of pursuing any one of them.
  12. The Yanks never offered him the chance to win the full time job. He knew they were committed to Gardner.
  13. Boy, you guys really know how to have fun.
  14. Too many lefties!
  15. My kids are adults. They cost me nothing. That's a boring conversation. I am going with the Carl Crawford beverage story unless you come up with something more interesting.
  16. Wouldn't Cespedes be a roll of the dice (an expensive one) because he has not faced major or minor league competition? Recently, the Cuban who have defected to come to the US have been disappointments. Jones may be boring but his performance and capabilities are known quantities. Maybe he will whip his butt into shape a bit and step up his production.
  17. Curmudgeons have to have something to talk about on a slow news day. It's better than bitching about our bonuses.
  18. They can do two things at the same time.
  19. I share your concerns about his age and health, but if the Sox sign him, I will be very happy.
  20. Agreed. No matter how hard he works at it, it would be very difficult for a career infielder to develop the proficiency necessary to play RF in anything but emergency situations. Fenway's RF is a very difficult field. Aviles should be used to spell Youk once a week. As you have noted, Youk is getting up there in age and he has had a pattern of wearing/breaking down. I'll wager anything right now that at some point he goes down with back spasms. It happens every year.
