  1. I agree with you that this team is a few tweaks from a very good club. I've been saying it all along. There are a few holes that need tending to, but nothing major. But do we need to call people "f***ING CRAZY". You are always talking about the FO takes a measured and considerate approach to making moves and you talk about subtleties, but you call someone who disagrees with you f***ING CRAZY? We can just debate the issues without this. Let me reiterate, I agree with you on this issue. I disagree with Pumpsie, but come on.
  2. My biggest concern for the 2012 team that could knock the Sox out of contention very quickly is whether Buchholz has any recurrence of his back issues.
  3. He had good command of his pitches, but no major pitches. If he had continued his development without the interruption for injury, he probably would have been a back of the rotation guy for some team by this point. He is a depth option for 2012.
  4. I think the 2012 team is only a couple of moves from being a highly competitive team. They need one solid #4 starter so they can put Bard in the closer role. They need to get a good RH OF with good splits against lefties-- maybe Cody Ross. Plus get one more bullpen pitcher-- possibly Wheeler. That would be a very strong team. I wouldn't write them off.
  5. What is the ETA at the MLB level for the Betances and Banuelos?
  6. The difference being that the discussion about Hazelbaker was a discussion about a baseball player and his ability. Your discussion with a formerly banned poster was about me. It had nothing to do with baseball. :thumbdown Unfortunately, through other posters quotes, I get to see that the formerly banned poster keeps taking potshots at me despite the fact that he knows I have him on ignore and I will not engage him. He is a cowardly internet bully.
  7. Who would you prefer to target with Youkilis? I wouldn't limit the Youk for Santana trade as an even up trade. maybe we could get a pretty good prospect in the deal along with Santana.
  8. I could see a possibility of getting David Wright from the Mets for a hefty package of prospects and then swapping Youk for Santana (an even salary swap). Wright and Santana are both only 28 years old.
  9. I am surprised that you view Santana as a castaway. He has compiled more than 200 innings in 3 of the last 4 seasons, and in each of those seasons he pitched to a sub 4 ERA. That's a pretty good track record.
  10. Would the Sox top 2/$12 million for Saunders?
  11. The poor Mets are going to be such door mats in the NL East in 2012. They should just unload everyone. What would you think about the Sox emptying the farm for David Wright and trading Youkilis for a top starting pitcher?
  12. He'd be a solid #4, and bard could go back to the pen and be the closer.
  13. As much as I like Bailey's stuff, I don't trust the health of his arm. Breslow may be the better option for the Sox, and he'd be cheaper.
  14. Is Santana being made available by the Angels. He would be very interesting.
  15. Like you said. We were spit-balling. We don't have to defend everything to the death. Why should we be held to a higher standard than Ben, who hasn't had to defend his offer of arbitration to Ortiz.
  16. I'm a fan. I do this for fun. I don't dive too deep on their stats. I pretty much go by what the experts (who supposedly do that analysis) say about them. Right now, our system is not getting great grades.
  17. I think if Crawford could play RF, Soriano in LF is not a crazy notion. I'd split time between him and Kalish, although Kalish is a far superior RF to Crawford.
  18. Good baseball discussion.
  19. I never thought of applying so many levels of accomplishment to prospects. A can't miss star prospect could probably end up in the top 3 categories-- you would hope.
  20. He has terrible judgment and instincts in the OF. They gave up tying to even to get him in proper position for hitters. Piniella just threw up his hands and let him play wherever he wanted. He would position himself ridiculously close to the LF foul line for almost every batter. I'd stick him in LF where a mistake would just be double. In RF, a mistake is a triple or inside the park homer.
  21. Would you move Crawford to RF to make room for Soriano in LF?
