  1. Ryan Sweeney if a left handed OFer with no power. I'm not quite sure that I understand why he and Reddick would be involved in the same trade.
  2. Hopefully he can stay healthy. In the each of the last 2 seasons, he couldn't put up 50 innings.
  3. The deal has grown. I guess Ryan Sweeney will be our depth OFer. I thought he had some good prospects at one time
  4. He has to get at least a depth OFer, because we only have 3 OFers. Cody Ross is available.
  5. There was an article after the HR Derby that said he had some soreness and he was wearing an icepack on the shoulder. He said the soreness was normal, but I was suspicious. His power stats were down after that. It was stupid to let him participate in that less than a year after the shoulder surgery.
  6. I have always been impressed with Bailey's stuff. His elbow concerns me. The price (Reddick) is not a high one. I wonder if this is contingent on a physical. We should send him to Colon's doctor in the DR to make sure that he stays healthy. I like this deal. If we can lock down Garza, we can be a very strong team.
  7. I would be very happy if that's how things turn out.
  8. The Sox should ask the Commissioner to step in. We are supposed to get compensation for Theo. We should get preference in a deal for Garza.
  9. He was running the show. We have a bloated MLB payroll and the team is poorly constructed. There was apparently little thought about the role that CC would play. The minor leagues is bereft of any talent that can help the big club for several years.
  10. That's some screwball stuff. Adults in a business environment should have been able to iron out those differences. The babies in baseball never cease to surprise me.
  11. 4. Doubront 5. Iglesias 6. Anderson 7. Britton This is horrible. Doubront is almost to the point where he will fall out of prospect status. Iglesias still can't hit the side of a barn with a paddle. Anderson? Are you kidding? Britton? Didn't he have a Lackey type season in A ball. That doesn't bode well at all. Our system is weak. If we could load all 4 of these guys into a trade package fo a decent player, we should be grateful.
  12. If you had run him down, you would have been a bigger pariah in New England than Bartman had been in Chicago.
  13. I still don't understand what happened with this guy last year. He was doing extremely well in the minors, but we didn't bring him up even though our pen was garbage.
  14. Welcome to TalkSox.
  15. SpudBoy almost ran over Nomar once. Does that count?
  16. Fenway prior to it's building up behind home plate was very reminiscent of Ebbetts Field for my dad. The first time I went there with my dad was in the early '70's. It was the closeness of the action and the neighborhood feel, and the walking to a ballpark by the fans.
  17. They still need a RH OFer, even though it is not as crucial as the need for pitching. Which RH OFerdo you like?
  18. Other RH OF choices are Andruw Jones, Gomes, and Burrell.
  19. I am even cheaper than Wakefield and i can't get anyone out either. I don't think they should sign me or Wakefield.
  20. I saw Lowrie in the first year he was invited to Spring Training, and his swing impressed me from the very beginning. I still think he would be a very good offensive middle infielder, but he just can't stay on the field. He's never going to set any iron man records.
