  1. I was critical of the JH foot in mouth moment, but what has one thing got to do with the other?
  2. It is a very different list-- a very young inexperienced list. Except for Middlebrooks and Lavarnway, none of the top 10 have played or are expected to play above A ball in 2012. A farm system should provide a source of depth for the big club in the event of injuries and under-performance. Our system is very deficient in this regard. The young guys on this list will shift position on the list or drop off in the next season or two-- that's how imprecise it is to evaluate young talent. In the end, unless about 5 of those guys progress to ML ready prospects in a couple of seasons, I think we'd have to conclude that Theo left the system in a bad place, because we have zero MLB ready talent right now.
  3. Maybe the Cards. They need a closer and they have a lot of payroll available without Pujols.
  4. Texas or the Angels
  5. If he wants out, they should place him on irrevocable waivers like they did with Manny after the 2003 season. Any team could have had him, but they all passed. They told Manny that the only way he could leave was if he tore up his contract. He stayed and shut up until mid-2006. If Crawford wants out, he'd better come out of the starting gate on fire in 2012. If he reestablishes himself, they might be able to trade him or someone might pick him off the waiver wire.
  6. Let me just say that if Theo trades Garza to the Yanks instead of the Red. Sox, Benny Boy had better have him arrested for trespassing the next time Theo uses a Fenway office when he is in town.
  7. IMO, Kalish has a much higher ceiling than Sweeney.
  8. I have the same amount of authority as the British Royals (i.e. zero) at a much lower compensation.
  9. Okay. I just didn't want to stir things up between me and VA.
  10. I am chill. Just setting the record straight.
  11. Are you on some sort of giddy sugar high? ;)
  12. I wouldn't lower myself to being President of any fan club. I am the King of TalkSox.
  13. Is this a crack about Nomar's nose?
  14. We'll have to see how it plays out, but I don't think Bobby V has done anything wrong yet.
  15. Not returning the call is unprofessional.
  16. They are saying that Bailey will make $3.5 million in 2012. Sweeney made $1.4 million in 2011, and I expect that figure will go up in 2012. How much will the Sox have left to spend on a Starting Pitcher and RH OFer?
  17. They are estimating that he will make $3.5 million after arbitration in 2012, which is almost a one third of Papelbon's 2012 salary. Taking into account that Bailey throws about 3/4's of the innings that Papelbon throws, it is still a good deal.
  18. We're going with Ben & Cherries until further notice.
