  1. Boy, you guys really know how to have fun.
  2. Too many lefties!
  3. My kids are adults. They cost me nothing. That's a boring conversation. I am going with the Carl Crawford beverage story unless you come up with something more interesting.
  4. Wouldn't Cespedes be a roll of the dice (an expensive one) because he has not faced major or minor league competition? Recently, the Cuban who have defected to come to the US have been disappointments. Jones may be boring but his performance and capabilities are known quantities. Maybe he will whip his butt into shape a bit and step up his production.
  5. Curmudgeons have to have something to talk about on a slow news day. It's better than bitching about our bonuses.
  6. They can do two things at the same time.
  7. I share your concerns about his age and health, but if the Sox sign him, I will be very happy.
  8. Agreed. No matter how hard he works at it, it would be very difficult for a career infielder to develop the proficiency necessary to play RF in anything but emergency situations. Fenway's RF is a very difficult field. Aviles should be used to spell Youk once a week. As you have noted, Youk is getting up there in age and he has had a pattern of wearing/breaking down. I'll wager anything right now that at some point he goes down with back spasms. It happens every year.
  9. The new information about Kalish's unavailability throws a bit of a wrench into things. I think he woulkd have gotten the bulk of PT in RF sharing it with a platoon RH OFer. This forces them to make some OF move, because right now their OF is crawford, Ellsbury, Sweeney and D Mac/ Aviles. That's just horrible. D Mac is terrible. It's great that Aviles is working hard in Winter Ball to learn to play the OF, but RF in Boston requires a top fielding outfield, and I can't see Aviles getting to that level. I don't know much about Cespedes. Andruw Jones is still out there and he is a good RH platoon choice who can play all 3 OF positions. He is still comparatively young despite the gut that he is carrying around. Maybe if he shows that he is in shape, the Sox can give him the opportunity to win the full time job before Kalish comes back.
  10. Let's hope Crawford answers the door.
  11. Me too.
  12. Taking Viagra and Geritol together can have a very bad interactive effect. It's one or the other.
  13. He looked pretty shot last year. I think he is probably through.
  14. Telling someone to stop a discussion is being an a-hole on a message board. No one has been saying anything offensive to each other, just disagreeing.
  15. Move on already! Good God!
  16. But I do reserve the right to raise the issue again.....because IT'S A MESSAGE BOARD. The name of the thread is quite self-explanatory. There are at least two sides of this issue. If you are tired of the discussion, why would you keep coming back to the thread? Move on! Good God!
  17. I let go of it a page ago. Good God!
  18. Are you mixing him up with Mike Sweeney formerly of KC? His knees were a mess.:dunno:
  19. Well, I would never throw good beer or vodka.
  20. The real question is: could any of this hurt Crawford's already horrendous 2011 performance? I don't think so. What was his excuse for stinking up the field in every aspect last season?
