  1. No, everything has not gone wrong. The team was built with thin suspect starting pitching. Two rookies in the starting rotation in the AL East is a recipe for disaster. Doubs has been okay but Bard flamed out spectacularly and our top 3 have been tremendously over rated. They have each performed like #5 starters. The bullpen lost it's biggest assets when it lost the back end of the pen that had been one of the best in baseball. Bard and Papelbon had shortened games to 7 innings over the last 3 seasons. Yes our bullpen has been better than our starters, but they have been sucking at nailing down games. Aceves already has 4 lblown saves and 6 losses. This team could have won only if everything went right. More than a few things have gone wrong so they are failing more quiclkly and more spectacularly than anyone had predicted. This team had little room for error when the season started.
  2. Rebuild. It is clear that this Red Sox team should not be in the same league with the Yankees or Texas.
  3. Backup player who couldn't make it with the Royals. What could we expect?
  4. What as waste! The guy s a dog.
  5. Reddick's current OPS is about 120+ points higher than Pedroia and AGon. I don't think the kid sucks.
  6. Sweeney has 14 career HR in 7 seasons. Reddick has 19 before the All Star Break. The kid has a live bat. I have been following him for years and seen him at several Spring Trainings. His problem is consistency. If he can manage to hit .260, that is all the consistency he'll need to be a regular .800 OPS starting OFer. He has that kind of juice in his bat. Edit: he light years better than Sweeney who can't hit a HR in a telephone booth. Do you really want to put Reddick in the same category with Dmac or marlon Byrd?
  7. I am not glad that he is in the AL and that he will be playing against us after the All Star break. He should have been sent to the NL. i don't care if we got nothing for him. You just wait and see. He is going to wreck us when he faces us.
  8. So now they can be calm and peaceful in their losing.
  9. On crawford: So, let me get this straight. He sat out almost 3 extra months and the elbow has not improved and he can play with it the way it is. My question that is burning my ass: Why the f*** did he miss the 3 months if he could play with this? I was very vocal about this injury originally. There have been plenty of sore armed outfielders. If it didn't hurt his offense, he should have been playing. He can go f*** himself. Really, this pisses me off in a big way. If he had lied and said the elbow had healed, I'd have felt much better about this.
  10. From Middlebrooks: Uh, yeah the team needs you. Punto and Gomez suck.
  11. Lots of bench guys are unhappy throughout the league and throughout the years. Let them chirp. I'd rather have a guy on the bench who can play and hit than watch Mauro Gomez and Punto. Youk isn't the first veteran to get sat down. If he didn't like it, well, that's too bad for him. Since when does an employer have to make every employee happy? I am not disagreeing to disagree. There was just no rush to get him out of here considering we got nothing in return. I'm not enjoying watching Mauro Gomez and Punto playing third base in the biggest series of the season. Yeah, I would have kept Youk if no one wanted to take his salary. I'd have kept him until there were fist fights in the clubhouse. I wouldn't give away a bat like that if I still had to pay his salary. Maybe that's just me, but we didn't owe Youk a trade, just a big paycheck. Finally, if it became untenable to keep him on the roster, I would have sent him to the NL. You realize that he is going to stick it right up Bobby V's ass when we play them after the All Star break. that should be enjoyable.
  12. It sounds like he will be out longer than anticipated.
  13. He's better than Mauro Gomez or Punto with one arm tied behind his back. He would have been nice depth. He was always professional and played hard. I can't knock the guy. I never saw anything from him except full effort and intensity. He would not have hurt us if we kept him until the TD. he might actually have helped. Have you been watching all of the ABs that Punto has been getting? Many of those games have been very close. Edit: he's hitting .308 with 10 RBI in 39 ABs since he left. That's awful?
  14. Beckett might as well go back to chicken and beer. He pitched better when indulging himself in fatty food and alcohol. Maybe he should take up smoking and chew. He sucks. He should have been dumped after last season when his value was high. I fear that the Yankees will bury us this weekend. I had so looked forward to this weekend when I got the tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Now I dread it. I was at the 9-0 game that they blew in April. It was like watching a powerhouse team pummel a college team. We didn't look like we belonged on the field with them. Two months later, it looks the same way. We lost by 2 runs, but I felt like our guys were waiting to lose. There was no excitement from the team or in the crowd. Maybe it's just me.:dunno:
  15. They had an epic collapse last season. That was their cue for renwed commitment and bold moves. We got a nothing off season. Same ole s*** from the FO. But we did get brick sales and 100 year anniversary celebration plans. The interest in this team is waning. It's the top of the 9th inning against the yankees in a high scoring game and the Sox are down only by 2 runs and the Yankees are without Mariano Rivera and the fans are leaving Fenway like the place is on fire. I can't remember seeing that in 45 years. Interst in this team is waning fast and the owners had better wake the f*** up. This weekend could very well be the nail in the coffin for the Sox.
  16. He's a shadow of himself. I don't care if he hits in 56 straight games. The guy has no pop in his bat.
