  1. So now they can be calm and peaceful in their losing.
  2. On crawford: So, let me get this straight. He sat out almost 3 extra months and the elbow has not improved and he can play with it the way it is. My question that is burning my ass: Why the f*** did he miss the 3 months if he could play with this? I was very vocal about this injury originally. There have been plenty of sore armed outfielders. If it didn't hurt his offense, he should have been playing. He can go f*** himself. Really, this pisses me off in a big way. If he had lied and said the elbow had healed, I'd have felt much better about this.
  3. From Middlebrooks: Uh, yeah the team needs you. Punto and Gomez suck.
  4. Lots of bench guys are unhappy throughout the league and throughout the years. Let them chirp. I'd rather have a guy on the bench who can play and hit than watch Mauro Gomez and Punto. Youk isn't the first veteran to get sat down. If he didn't like it, well, that's too bad for him. Since when does an employer have to make every employee happy? I am not disagreeing to disagree. There was just no rush to get him out of here considering we got nothing in return. I'm not enjoying watching Mauro Gomez and Punto playing third base in the biggest series of the season. Yeah, I would have kept Youk if no one wanted to take his salary. I'd have kept him until there were fist fights in the clubhouse. I wouldn't give away a bat like that if I still had to pay his salary. Maybe that's just me, but we didn't owe Youk a trade, just a big paycheck. Finally, if it became untenable to keep him on the roster, I would have sent him to the NL. You realize that he is going to stick it right up Bobby V's ass when we play them after the All Star break. that should be enjoyable.
  5. It sounds like he will be out longer than anticipated.
  6. He's better than Mauro Gomez or Punto with one arm tied behind his back. He would have been nice depth. He was always professional and played hard. I can't knock the guy. I never saw anything from him except full effort and intensity. He would not have hurt us if we kept him until the TD. he might actually have helped. Have you been watching all of the ABs that Punto has been getting? Many of those games have been very close. Edit: he's hitting .308 with 10 RBI in 39 ABs since he left. That's awful?
  7. Beckett might as well go back to chicken and beer. He pitched better when indulging himself in fatty food and alcohol. Maybe he should take up smoking and chew. He sucks. He should have been dumped after last season when his value was high. I fear that the Yankees will bury us this weekend. I had so looked forward to this weekend when I got the tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Now I dread it. I was at the 9-0 game that they blew in April. It was like watching a powerhouse team pummel a college team. We didn't look like we belonged on the field with them. Two months later, it looks the same way. We lost by 2 runs, but I felt like our guys were waiting to lose. There was no excitement from the team or in the crowd. Maybe it's just me.:dunno:
  8. They had an epic collapse last season. That was their cue for renwed commitment and bold moves. We got a nothing off season. Same ole s*** from the FO. But we did get brick sales and 100 year anniversary celebration plans. The interest in this team is waning. It's the top of the 9th inning against the yankees in a high scoring game and the Sox are down only by 2 runs and the Yankees are without Mariano Rivera and the fans are leaving Fenway like the place is on fire. I can't remember seeing that in 45 years. Interst in this team is waning fast and the owners had better wake the f*** up. This weekend could very well be the nail in the coffin for the Sox.
  9. He's a shadow of himself. I don't care if he hits in 56 straight games. The guy has no pop in his bat.
  10. It is time for Gonzo to start to earn his money.
  11. Rizzo is 4-5 against the Mets tonight with his 4th HR (Gonzo has 6) and 3 RBI.
  12. If more TalkSox members met each other at a game or for a drink or just for a few minutes to say hello there would be more mutual respect shown here. When people meet each other and there is a realization that there is a real person on the other side of cyberspace, things wouldn't get so nasty.
  13. The Yankee announcers mentioned that Lowrie was traded for Melancon and then mentioned Reddick and proceeded to hammer our FO about lots of moves, and deservedly so. They have done a terrible job for the last 3-4 years.
  14. No bench means we have to watch Punto be helpless in big spots in big games.
  15. Probably better than Mauro Gomez.
  16. If that was our IF, Aviles would have bobbled the ball and even if he had caught it, our third baseman would not have covered the base. That's what good baseball looks like.
  17. When they score 4 or less runs the Red Sox record is atrocious compared to other teams: Red Sox 6-34 (.150) Yankees 13-24 (.351) Tampa 18-37 (.327) Angels 16- 28 (.364) Guardians 17- 29 (.370)
  18. At times, the fans know more. The other thing that was so ill-conceived about this conversion is that it should have been attempted in the minor leagues, not the major leagues. He had never had a start at AAA or AA on his way to the major leagues. What were they thinking when they put him on a major league mound to do something he had never done at any high professional level.
  19. Get use to seeing more free passes of Ortiz until Gonzo proves he can still go deep and he reclaims the cleanup spot.
  20. 37,000 people fainted at Fenway when Punto hit the ball off the wall.
  21. No. Pitchers who give up 6 runs in the first 2 innings but give up nothing the rest of the way had a bad day. No Jeckyll and Hyde, just Hyde.
  22. Per David Cone: Since Youkilis trade, Red Sox third basemen are hitting .122.
