    I don't think that it is lack of effort at this point, because a lot of those guys are playing for their futures down the stretch. I just don't think they have the horses to be competitive as a spoiler.

    I laugh that some of you will ooh and ahh over a guy who will have an excellent chance of never suiting up for the Red Sox. There is no silver lining to sucking in Baseball.

    Are you saying that the Sox should seek out employees who can contribute marginally and give them FO jobs? That doesn't sound like a sound approach to business. There's nothing James can do that some baseabll fan/nerd from MIT couldn't do as an intern. They'd probably love to do it for free.

    It's nice to get a win. I decided to get some sleep after Salty air mailed a throw into CF. It's good to see that Lavarnway hit one out. Was it a nice shot? Also Iglesias finally got a hit. Maybe they can build on this. Lester is still pitching like pre-May 2008 Lester. He's continues not to impress.

    Greinke is handling the pressure of the penant/wild card race just fine in LA. He shut down the red hot A's last night.

    It was foolishness to have the father of sabremetrics on the FO payroll. He's best suited for rotisserie sports.

    I think that he definitely wants out, and I don't think he will say goodbye to any of the prima donas in the clubhouse who probably turn his stomach.

    Enjoy the daily headaches starting at about 5, because you will come to know what to expect from your manager and squad.

    I would never call you a pom pom waiver except for the fact that after all these years, you still mischaracterize me in an offensive way. You've been here long enough to know better. I prefer to address the sports and opine about that than about my fellow TalkSox members.

    It depends on the price. He's not scared by a big stage and his full contract was much smaller than we paid to Crawford. If they could get a discount off that and throw in Iglesias and some other non-blue chip prospects, I would consider it.

    They have a huge opportunity to make this team competitive for 2013. They have a tremendous amount of payroll flexibility. I don't know why you are so willing to let them off the hook for 2013. If they make smart moves, there is no reason why the 2013 Red Sox cannot be a competitive team.

    They own the stupidity of their own moves. We didn't make them make stupid moves. They could have opted for smart moves. Plenty of teams were making smart moves during this period.

    The last generation of Sox success was centered around a lot of guys that guys that came from outside the organization like Manny, Ortiz, Beckett, Schilling, Pedro, Damon, Lowell, Varitek, and Bill Mueller.

    Bringing fans into the discussion of stupid FO moves is just abhorrent to me. The FO made stupid moves, because they made stupid moves possibly indicating that they are stupid people. The stupidity of the moves had nothing to do with fan pressure.

    Misguided liberal jackass. So, in addition to helping my team suck, he is dedicated to higher fuel costs. I used to feel sorry for him, but now I don't care for him at all.

    A perceived impatience on the part of the fanbase that continued to fill Fenway every game for the next 3 years and fill the park in Ft. Myers too? The fanbase was lapping up everything the FO was pimping-- grass seed, pieces of the tarpaulin and bricks. Please, their incompetence had nothing to do with the impatience of the fanbase. Money continued to fly out of the fans' pockets at record levels.
