  1. And they put more distance between us.
  2. Why would I expect Ben to pull off the trade? He's on the Blue Jays. The Blue Jay GM would have to move him. As I said before, a SS did not make the top 4 on my wish list for the Red Sox. Try to keep up with the conversation. BTW you may not be naive, but you are either misinformed or you are being deceptive. It should be very easy to move Reyes at age 35 after 2018, because his contract will be over at 2017 with a $4 million buyout in 2018.
  3. You are right about me being right, but you have little basis for the highlighted statement.
  4. If Carl Crawford could be traded within a week after TJ surgery, anyone can be traded. I didn't say that Reyes would be easy to trade. That's your filter at work again. I said that he would be easier to trade than Crawford because he plays SS. I stand by that.
  5. At this point in time, the Jays are significantly better than the Red Sox. I don't care how the Jays look 4 years from now. Is that a win now mentality? It's just an assessment of what is. Our team sucks right now, and I have no great confidence that we will be contending for a championship in 4 years based on our FO leadership and our farm system. Who the hell knows? If I don't know what the Sox will look like in 4 years, how can I presume to know what the Jays will be like in 4 years?
  6. I never said that. Those are your words. A shortstop wasn't in the top 4 things that I want the FO to accomplish this season. I posted my plan several times. Read that and criticize that.
  7. The more salary you take on the lesser prospects you give up. Except for one badly injury marred year, he has averaged 150 games/yr since he has been a starting SS. He hasn't been on the operating table yet. He is not Edgar Renteria. You need to see this guy play on a daily basis.
  8. The contract is not close to as bad as Crawford's and because Reyes plays a premium position there will always be a much better trade market for him than Crawford.
  9. Wait until you see Reyes play 20 times a year. I'd take him on my team any time.
  10. Where are the posters who argued with my opinion that this vote would not be close. I am sure that Miggy lost a few votes on the character issue for his DUI. Of course, it would not be close. When will people learn?
  11. And they will happen before tickets go on sale on December 1st.
  12. That can happen when you actually read my posts without applying your own filter to my words to skew my meaning which leads you to dispute matters that are not being contended.
  13. I agree with you. I would concentrate on fixing the pitching since that was the roots of the 2012 failure. Two starters and a reliever would put this team back on track.
  14. That would be a very respectable 2013 team. That's all I am looking for-- moving away from the utter failure that we have witnessed since September 2011. We have to see what they will do.
  15. Your plan is more aggressive on the offense side. Mine is more aggressive on the pitching side. I think that my approach is less costly. Either way, the 2013 team would be respectable, so I don't think either of us is being negative.
  16. We could do worse. We could get them both and still have a ton of payroll available. IMO, they could upgrade from Guthrie and have plenty of payroll to play with.
  17. They will be moving in the upcoming weeks. I hope we get a couple of them. Read the threads. I have said over and over that I am waiting to see what happens. There's nothing to argue about, because nothing has happened yet. The waiting is frustrating, but I have also posted a number of times that I expect moves before December 1st. How that is negative is lost on me. I think you are being a bit of a dick tonight.
  18. So you don't like my plan. What is your plan?
  19. He's anti smiley face today. What a lousy mood he is in.
  20. There will be plenty of starters to change laundry this off season. They don't need to be stars-- guys like Buehrle who are dependable. Like iortiz said, there have been plenty of names floated out there. I believe that pitching is the biggest need. Two starters and a bullpen guy would make a huge difference. Last year, it was all about the pitching sucking.
  21. One school of thought on that trade is that JH was the moving force on that trade. Make up your mind is he a puppet or not. He was a puppet when he didn't make moves, but he was the mastermind of the huge salary dump? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you think calling him a puppet is defending him, good for you. As I said earlier, i don't care who is calling the shots. I just want the team to be rebuilt enough not to play some meaningful games after the first week of August.
  22. Get 2 solid starters. Pick up a RH Ofer or resign Ross. get a guy to platoon at first with Gomez. I could live with Loney. Get a strong bullpen arm capable of closing if Bailey goes down. That would be a respectable team IMO. It wouldn't break the bank or mortgage the future.
  23. Bring over your breathalyzer. I'll pass with flying colors. 2012 is the worst season in my long memory, but Cherries has set the bar very very low to show improvement. Talk about negative, you think the guy is merely a stooge, a puppet, a paper cutout.
  24. I wasn't comparing the jays approach to the Red Sox approach for the past 10 years, so comments in your post are irrelevant.
