  1. I am generally against trading everyday players for pitchers. Ellsbury has shown star potential. I am very much against trading everyday star players for pitchers, even front line pitchers. Porcello doesn't warrant Ellsbury as a return. IMO, the Tiger would jump at that, and the Sox would not offer it.
  2. That's too high a price, IMO.
  3. Isn't his annual salary less than what is being offered to Napoli. I like him better than Napoli as an offensive player. I like that he is a switch hitter too.
  4. When people talk about people being negative or critical in general without directing it at me, I don't take it as personal, because I don't view myself as unfairly critical or negative. Unfortunately, people like you are never satisfied making such general statements. It's always personal. If you take references to pollyannishness as a personal insult, that is your problem. If it hits too close to home, maybe you are one. Again that is not my problem, but a reference to that mindset without a name or names attached to it is not a personal insult or sideswipe. There are many Pollyannas, so you shouldn't take it personally. Yes, let's get back to baseball. That's all I want. The FO is moving at a snails pace. I have no idea why, but it is making for a very boring off season.
  5. He'd be an improvement, but Dombrowski is a good negotiator. We'd have to see what he wants. They need a SS and some OF help, and we have none to offer that we don't need. I am wondering what the Tigers are going to do with VMart when he comes back. There's no room at first base. He can't catch with the bad knee. Unless they make him a full time DH, they might be looking to move him. He'd be a good fit at first base for the Sox.
  6. I agree with your post, but there is the scary possibility that for reasons not known to us that they don't have a lot of payroll flexibility. There's probably a lot going on with the owner's finances- and some of it might not be very pretty.
  7. ^ This is taking your own advice. I don't see baseball in this post.
  8. Yep, and you should have pointed it out t the person who made it an issue. I can do this all day if you like.
  9. Take your own advice.
  10. I thought Longo was going to kick his ass in the dugout a couple of years back. He would have broken him in half.
  11. Oh, I guess you missed the post criticizing someone's plans for final arrangements. Otherwise you would have directed your post to him... Right?
  12. What is more pathetic is how much dog he has in him. The guy has never played hard.
  13. Talk about being critical and negative, you are criticizing a persons choice of final arrangements based on economic grounds? I don't think he'll have much use for the money after he is dead. Just to be clear a reference to polyannishness is not by itself a direct insult to anyone.
  14. I wonder if this is the kind of deal Brian Wilson will get.
  15. Who is this knucklehead accusing of stalking him? What did I supposedly do?
  16. Tickets go on sale in 2 days. Unless we see some moves in the next day or 2, the advanced sales will be very slow. Maybe they are waiting to gauge the degree of interest/disinterest in the team before they make any moves. I think they will be shocked at the lack of interest.
  17. We spent $3.9 million on Bailey last year and got nothing for it. The incentives here are valuable. If he turn out to be a big time stopper this year, he'll be worth $7 million.
  18. This looks like a very reasonable deal.
  19. He's like the anti-Jeter in the clubhouse.
  20. I agree about Swisher. I can't take the guy's ridiculous antics.
  21. No sad songs for me. I wonder if he will accept the counterfeit apology since he has me on ignore.
  22. Maybe they will be interested in a tall adequate catcher.
  23. It's a five-year deal, worth $70-75MM, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (on Twitter).
  24. Oh, is it my turn to piss now?
