  1. They shouldn't. There is no way of knowing that they were clean. Other guys are being kept out on suspicion without evidence. No one from that era is above suspicion. If they get in right away, it will be beause the writer love to suck pinstripe dick.
  2. No one from the steroid era is going in for a long time.
  3. But he is a Yankee and they won championships so he should be in.
  4. LOL!! You should know by now that I don't expect them to be infallible. I hope for competence or better.
  5. His career should be misremembered.
  6. Yep, true, but none were 1 inning pitchers and none of them were locks on the Hall either.
  7. No player who was a 1- inning pitcher for his entire career has made it into the HOF. They are not full contributors. If Mo makes it, Trevor Hoffman's career was pretty close to Mo's. He'd have to go too. Mo will make it, because everyone feints at the sight of pinstripes. He has been built up a a mythological figure by the NY press, and the Yankees won championships. If he played in San Diego, no one would think about him after retirement. Let's face it, if he was a HOF pitching talent, he'd have been a starter. One inning guy, but a Yankee, so he will go to the HOF. What's next career Pinch Hitters in the Hall. It would happen if the Yankees played NL rules.
  8. Sometimes organizations hype prospects with he intent of building their trade value. In the case of Lars, I think the FO believed their own hype. They made a big mistake. They had him hyped pretty good at one point and he could have been a major piece in a trade package. They held him and he crashed to earth along with his trade value. They did not maximize the value of that asset.
  9. It's a 1 inning job. BFD. Closers should have a more difficult time getting to the HOF than DHs. His numbers against his biggest rival are not that impressive. Admittedly, he was the most consistent and steadying force that I have seen in the back-end of a pen for such a long period of time. The Yankees will experience tremendous fluctuations in performance from year to year going forward due to the unpredictable nature of BP pitchers. As for the HOF, he has been romanticized way too much. He's a 1 inning pitcher, not a full contributor.
  10. People were starting to blame you for the team's downfall and 3 year absence from the playoffs.
  11. Great game by Lackey!! Nice clincher.
  12. LOL!! Oh okay, I was worried that you might be lacking an appropriate sense of proportion.
  13. Hey Spud, are you doing the reverse lock thing, because you aren't usually so pessimistic.
  14. You do realize that I was referring to beard?
  15. The pubes that you cultivate on your face don't irritate your silky smooth skin?
  16. I don't think the crop of first baseman is especially thin. Napoli, Kendrys Morales and Abreu is a decent field.
  17. The O's lineup is more formidable than the Yanks or Tampa. Their starting pitching is mediocre, but their middle relief is better than most teams. Our strength has been feasting on bullpens. The O's pen has beat us the last 2 games.
  18. I think LOL! I think Doji is right at a much higher percentage. He does often get a little too enthusiastic when a prospect is still playing T-Ball but he doesn't project these guys as stars. He usually projects them as contributors. His evaluation of Nava was pretty much right on with regard to hitting. He might have underestimated his power just a bit, and I don't think he projected his fielding versatility. I for one thought it much more probable that he would be pumping gas this summer that very ably handling RF and 1B in a pennant drive.
  19. It's time to stop feeding the ego of that smug idiot Showalter and stop this embarrassment of the O's continuing to eat our lunch every September. Showalter is in my top two on my list of baseball idiots. He managed to get fired or quit as Yankee manager when they were on the brink of their great run. Joe Torre came in and won 4 championships in 5 years and is likely to go into the HOF. He forced Steinbrener's hand. He acted like a major jackass after the 1995 season. Then Showalter goes to Arizona and builds up their program and gets himself fired after the 2000 season and the DBacks won the championship in 2001. Oriole fans should look forward to him getting fired. I hate the douche. His biggest victory as a manager has been knocking us out of the playoff spot in 2011.
  20. I think that we should be able to sign him for a reasonable contract. He is tainted by the medical report on his hip, and I can't see teams giving him a long term guaranteed contract when he has that condition.
  21. The bunt instead of the steal was a very poor tactical move by the manager and essentially ended any chance of scoring that inning because Drew has really struggled against lefties. He (Farrell) took the bat out of Middlebrooks' hands on a night where he was swinging good. Of course the players win or lose the game on the field. Managers have very few tactical opportunities to affect the outcome of a game. Last night when presented with such an opportunity, Farrell blew, pure and simple. This is not a condemnation of him as a manager. He has done a very good job this season. However, last night, he blew a chance to win the game and he set up failure in that inning. Farrell's strong point is not in game tactical moves, but from what I see he is better than Tito in that regard. You asked how Farrell lost the game. IMO, he blew an opportunity, and managers don't get too any of those.
  22. Rays won. The Rays kept trying to give the game to the Rangers, but they refused to take it.
  23. He did push his luck with Morales and got burned. He didn't run Berry. Instead he bunted taking the bat out of middlebrooks' hands (3 hits tonight) and leaving himself with an unfavorable lefty-lefty matchup with Drew. That is when the manager managed to lose the game... right there.
  24. Johnson blows saves and loses games all over the place, but he gets us 2 nights in a row.
  25. Why is Victorino out of the game?
