  1. A first round bust. Black mark for the GM. Should have had Clint Eastwood scout hi.
  2. Baseline seats at the Coliseum are not close to the action at all. Bleacher seats at Fenway are closer to the game.
  3. A700Hitter doesn't fit into boxes.
  4. He was clueless on how to stop the bleeding. If anything, he contributed to the debacle. I love Tito, but he was a big part of the problem that season. He was never a goodgame tactician, but in 2011 he lost the clubhouse too.
  5. More recently, Sabathia opted out of his Yankee contract and declared free agency and the re-signed him. He didn't leave the Guardians. They traded him to the Brewers, and that was back in 2008. Greinke also was also traded to the Brewers before he hit FA,
  6. Of the pitchers in the list only Greinke and Johan left their team, and only one since 2008. The trend has been for teams to lock these guys down and keep them from leaving.
  7. Dombrowki is going to lock down Scherzer. He will not let him get away. Having the dual aces in the rotation prevents losing streaks, and if you can avoid losing streaks you usually put up a winning record. Dual aces are even more important if you make the post season. He will throw enough money at Scherzer to make him happy without the stress of having to go under the microscope in a new town.
  8. The Sox extend Papi for one year.
  9. Doubs has been dogshit his last couple of outings. He might be in a dead arm period. It is better now than after the bell rings.
  10. Josh Johnson has been shut down already, more arm problems. They are hoping that it will be 2-4 weeks. Arm ailments have wrecked his career.
  11. I'd prefer Cordero over Badenhop
  12. He's a horrible base runner. He pulled another rock getting caught of first base this time.
  13. Plus, he runs like a wounded duck.
  14. Funny play. Freddie Freeman lines a shot off Lackey's backside. Lackey scrambles to pick it up and on his throw to first base he hit Freeman in the backside.
  15. Great play by Lackey today on a bunt. I thought there was no chance to get the batter.
  16. No glass, just a net. No restaurant. The front row is in the sun all day long. Second and third rows are in the shade and very comfortable.
  17. I think we can go with 6 bullpen guys. That's enough pen depth. I'd rather do that than cut one of the position players.
  18. If I had to part with any of them, Nava, Carp, Sizemore or Bradley, I'd trade Carp. Nava was very consistent last year and he plays more positions than Carp. Plus Nava is a switch hitter and we have plenty of left handed batters.
  19. Maybe Carp will get traded. Nava can play Lf, RF and 1B. Carp doesn't bring anything to the team that Nava doesn't bring.
  20. I disagree that they need more than 6 guys in the pen. They have a couple of off-days in April and there is likely to be a rain out. If they need to send down a position player, does Nava have options?
  21. I don't think they will push their luck with Sizemore by making him play every day. I think that he will get 2 days off each week to keep from breaking him down. Picking up Sizemore's, Victorino's and Gomes off days should give Bradley very regular playing time -- probably 350 - 400 ABs. I think that he will break camp with the team.
  22. Based on what I observed during my week in Fort Myers, I don't think complacency will be much of a problem. There are a lot of young guys who are busting their tails to make an impression-- Xander, Bradley, and Middlebrooks. Sizemore is working like heck to get his career back. I said it that first week of March after seeing him that he will have a big impact on the 2014 team. Victorino is always engages and always busting his tail. We have enough guys bringing an energy to the team so I am not worried about complacency taking root. Ortiz is sleep walking through camp in energy saver mode. He thinks that he can turn it on when the bell rings. I hope that he is right. At his age, that is not that easy. I don't see the signs of 2009 and 2011.
  23. Crap. I am going to have to find a way out of work early.
  24. Can we move this to 7:30?
