  1. Who said anything about Edes being gospel? I sure as hell didn't and for the record I consider him the biggest boot licker of the bunch. You say you lived in So. Cal but I don't know if you were there when Edes was covering the Dodgers. He was the biggest brown nose and yes man of the whole LA Press contingent and never was uttered a discouraging word about "his" Dodgers even though they sucked much of the time. In fact, if Peter O'Malley ever went for a walk and stopped short Edes would have been halfway up his ass. No MVP, Edes is not gospel by any means; again, in my opinion the biggest Red Sox front office ball washer in the crowd but it doesn't change the fact that Gammons is wrong more times than he is right and if you want my opinion take everything he says with a very fine grain of salt.
  2. They are not acting like they're desperate with their skin flint offers. Unless the pitchers in question have nothing better none of the pitchers mentioned---Oswalt, Jackson or that phantom free agent some people keep talking about----are going to sign for the s*** change Cherries is offering. It sounds to me like Prune Face Henry is holding on to his wallet and giving all of us a big middle finger.
  3. Let me put some new colors in your paint box RS3---Gammons is full of s***; he is wrong more times than he is right and has turned out to be the flim-flam man of the press. I don't know where people get the impression that he has inside sources because he doesn't. You don't come out and proclaim Mark Teixeira is ours only to find out he isn't and has gone over to the enemy. I haven't believed a damn thing he said since.
  4. Are you trying to tell me you're surprised by that? It's been one ******** story after another about these two guys maybe signing with us and if you throw Floyd into the mix this whole sad story has become a cottage industry in itself. Oswalt has said that he doesn't want to pitch in the American League and I would suspect that goes double for the AL East. So he is a lily livered chicken s*** who wants to take the path of least resistance and so the hell with him. Jackson has stars in his eyes courtesy of Boras and thinks he is worth more than he is, and, besides, Cherington has been low balling them since he feigned interest in them. Barring some cataclysm neither one is coming to Boston so get ready to root on Garmano Miller, Maine, Cook, Silva, Haeger and Padilla. Quite an august body to choose from, don't you think????
  5. OK Spud, the third time is the real charm. Best of Luck. Speaking of luck we could sure as hell use some with our pitching staff this coming season and if Doubrant could step up on the left side for us either as a reliever or starter it would make things better for us. I really don't have much confidence in the big bag of shits Cherington signed with the possible exception of Padilla and he's liable to off his rocker at any moment.
  6. Sox Sport and iortiz, this is in replay to both of you. First of all if Boras is asking for $10 mil for Jackson he's not going to get it from the Red Sox, so if the price doesn't go down and down the righthander is not coming here. As for the 5-6 million bandied about we don't seem to want to go there either. It's like we're pinching pennies so hard they are yelping in pain. Right now this whole scene reminds me of one big fluster#uck!!!!!
  7. I don't see it happening either RS Rules, but you have to admit it wouldn't shock us if something stupid like this went down. There's been a lot of stuff that has made me wonder WTF Cherington and Company have been doing all off season and that picture of Pedro and that expression could pass for all of us this winter. He looks like he's asking the same thing of his old team......WTF ARE WE DOING??????:rolleyes:
  8. Oh why do we even bother trying to figure this stuff out my friend. It's like we never get tired of banging our heads against the wall wondering what the hell is going on and getting more confused about developments by the hour. Some of these signing just make no sense to me 700. If I were playing my role of perverse agitator I would almost suspect that these signing were designed to fail so the call would go out for Wakefield to be signed to save the day. Now how much more perverse can you get than that. I swear 700 the Red Sox put me through a torture test just about every day.
  9. I love #7 Palodios but #9 concerns me no end. I guess Ryan takes over at catcher but with Salty DFA do I get the miserable and disgusting feeling that we may to stomach Putritek for another part of a season?
  10. No real problem my friend, but I wonder if I will have to wait until I am 77 (Lord willing) to see the Red Sox win another World Series? That's six years down the road and seems like a long time. Of course, being a relative new convert to RSN (2000), I can emphatize with all those who waited a helluva long time, like a decade or two or three, for the Sox to finally bring it all home. Notice I said Lord willing? There's an old saying that if you want God to laugh, just tell HIM your plans. One day at a time iortiz. That's the ticket.
  11. Well MVP, that might to bear some watching. Miller is so damn wild and he hasn't developed since he was a No. 1 draft of the Tigers. If Cook is healthy he could win some games for us on moxie and experience alone since he mixes is pitches up pretty well and moves the ball around. Unfortunately, as 700 put it, he can't break a pane of glass so I wonder if wowing them with footwork would would be effective in the AL East. Padilla is a mean bastard and I saw him pitch some good ball on TV when he was with the Dodgers. I'd still take a good No. 4 pitcher over any of the three any day.
  12. I'd love to get a peek at the ST schedule for the Red Sox and it better have a lot of "B" games on tap because we have a lot of looking to do with that "ton of s***" in order to find one or two of them that might actually see us strike Yankee Colon-Garcia type gold this season. Cook, Miller, Padilla, Silva, Germano Haeger, Maine----that's a lot of crap to go through and in my opinion you can scratch Maine, Haeger and Miller from that list now. One is downright putrid that even the Mets didn't want him, one is a knuckler who got creamed when he was pitched for the LA Bums out here, and the other guy couldn't find the plate with a searchlight. To show you how bad these guys are, Heinie Germano may be the worst of all. Well who does that leave us with...Cook and Padilla? Throw in Tazawa, Doubrant, and whosever else and pray that someone rises to the occasion. As the old saying goes, throw enough s*** at a wall and sooner or later some of it will stick permanently. Who'se the "tough s***" of this bunch? Don't ask me.
  13. Please take this as friendly legitimate criticism because I like you User even if we disagree a lot of the time. You really get bent out of shape when a poster says something that is less than complimentary about the Red Sox chances. You seem to take it as a personal affront and get very angry about it. BPEF seems to me to be a class act and every time we've exchanged posts I have found him to be a real gentlemen as well as a knowledgeable baseball fan. I really couldn't understand you going off on him the way you did yesterday. Please keep in mind that no matter what the differences are, we are all ardent and passionate Red Sox fans who only want the best for their team. Some see the glass as half full as you and o thers do, some see it as half-empty. Diversity is good for keeping the board alive. And just for the record, when the Red Sox win a game I consider the whole day to be a success.
  14. On your two posts---first off, wouldn't it be good if Selig really showed some balls and practiced what he preached about this jumping around by baseball execs? How? Giving us Garza. That would really send a message and since the Cubs are rebuilding they shouldn't raise as much hell as they would if they were pennant contenders. Of course, dreams are wonderful. As for Buchholz, I do not like the way he arches his back as he delivers the ball. Now I admit I'm no expert on pitching mechanics but I coached long enough to know that such a delivery can put a real strain on the back. I never taught such a delivery. He does need to straighten up, head over lead leg and drive forward from his leg kick on. Now that's just my opinion.
  15. You got it all big guy!!!!! Corny? maybe. Silly? Possibly. But a funny piece of work? Absolutely and, believe it or not, I'm sitting here trying to type while I'm LMFAO!!!!!!!! We need more of this RC84 from all of us around here. I like to go off the wall at times but I try to add a little humor and corn if I can. We're here to have fun and join up with people who share love for a particular beloved team, a ball club that it took me most of my life to realize that this was the team for me. Keep them coming. I'm still laughing up a storm.
