  1. And some wonder why a few of us roll our eyes at what has been going on with our team. Did you read the blurb where Henry spent $169 million dollars on his soccer team the last few months and about $20 mil on the Sox? We could call that misplaced priorities but would be shouted down as defeatists and troublemakers if we did. Now we have to worry about Varitek and Wakefield showing up. That would be the creme de la crem (sic) of this whole disappointing off season.
  2. Elderly sound better than old Emmz---and didn't you call me Pops last time out? Hey, young lady, you can keep calling me that. My wife loved reading that. She's a Midwestern girl like you---Nebraska, Illinois and your Minnesottah.
  3. Well we have something to celebrate together tonight. I thought I was the only Lakers fan on this board. OK, let's try to slow down the temperature a little. I still like you even though you sometimes piss me off. Then, again, I probably piss you off too. Tell the truth, though.....you do like to push my buttons, don't you? Sometimes it's easy for me to get my Italian up.
  4. For the record I still post on Sawxheads and one of the five or six heaviest posters on that board so once again your info is bogus. I also don't personal unless someone gets personal with me, but you know what? You may actuall have a point, strange as that might seem. I'm going to make it my business to completely ignore you because you are argumentative and disagreeable just to be argumentative and disagreeable. As for Bellhorn he is a friend and I don't take anything personal that he says about me. We've had our differences before and have worked them out. I do think, though, that it might be a good idea if we don't communicate for a week or so until we cool things down. I'm being nice now since my LA Lakers took the Boston Celtics tonight in overtime. A helluva game too.
  5. Well trying to cast some good light on things, when Crawford comes back we will have either Ross or Sweeney there as well and that ought to help things a little. That bullpen does look a little shaky, doesn't it? That is why I wish we could get that No. 4 starter and hope Padilla shapes up because if we could put both Bard and Aceves down there the pen would look a helluva lot better. I still hold to what I said earlier 700---the team could win the division this year but about 90% of what goes down would have to be to our benefit. It does cut things a little close, wouldn't you say my friend?
  6. I've listened to about all I want to from you. You've become a sniveling know-it-all who thinks he has all the answers and put his nose up to others who think differently. Most importantly you get your balls in an uproar when anyone writes something you disagree with and get personal in the exchange---and, yes, you have a lot of trouble comprehending what is being written. And for the record, you've pissed off more people than I could in a year, and if I want to criticize what the front office has done and doing I will do it and if you don't like it you could shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Now bug off and don't let me hear from you again.
  7. Well I was taking a page from the book of Williams and not failing to look a bald fact in the face. The bald fact was our collapse last year---the question HAS THE TEAM MOVED ON FROM IT? It matters not if we've moved on because we don't hit, pitch, run and throw. I take it you read what Beckett said the other day of the problems the team endured last September. From what he told the interviewer he didn't seem to think he and his pals did anything wrong; in o ther words there was no show of repentence for what they were doing in the clubhouse during the games. To me it could be a worry. It is not ridiculous speculation at all; it is a concern. To the point, I have already made reservations for one Red Sox series this season (in Chicago) and am looking forward to one at Fenway later on. It would be great to see that the team has moved on and we vie for a title of some kind---division, AL or WS. Right now I see a team that could win the division (surprise?--I've said that all winter) but just about everything has to break right for us to do it since we don't have the depth that some other teams in our division do in the pitching department. For the record, I am keeping my fingers crossed on that.
  8. Anyone starting to wonder a little if this was the plan all along? Sign a bunch of rotten and failing pitchers and then convince the naive fans and press that, hell, could Wakefield be any worse, and then bring him on in. Padilla is better than Wakefield, Cook is better than Wakefield, even Miller as bad as he is, is preferable to Wakefield. The Red Sox have to learn a lesson from the Yankees.....there is a time you have to let go and move on and s*** on this sacred cow nonsense. I repeat something I said before.....if either Tim or Jason were any good some other team would have offered the something by now. No team has. If some of the bottom feeders in baseball can't find a place for these two, the Red Sox shouldn't because in actuality there is no place for them. Come on Cherington,, show some balls for a change. Schedule a night for both of them and tell them bon voyage.
  9. What kind of ******** is that 700-----Wakefield will decide whether to pitch of not in 2012? Is that for real my friend? Hell the only place he can pitch is in Boston because he hasn't received on damn offer from anyone else. Four months plus have gone by and we haven't gotten that No. 4 starter most of us know we need, we now have no shortstop worthy of its name, Ortiz' arbitration has sucked the wind out of what ever money could have been allocated for pitching, and now we have this debacle on our hands. I've believed all along that it would come down to this and that Cherington would invite both Weakflood and Putritek to ST---and if they are allowed to show up I believe the fix will be in and they will find their way onto the ballclub. This must not happen; these guys are through and if they weren't some other team would have showed some interest in them NO ONE HAS!!!!! This must not happen. Hey 700, reading that has already put a crimp in what had been a nice day.
  10. I hope it isn't 25 players, 25 cabs again. I know of that history and it sucked. Hopefully BV can right the ship and get the players thinking as one again.
  11. Not on ignore? Fine LinNay, so you now can read my reply. You would be very able to question my loyalty to the Red Sox since you saw me at Fort Myers in 2007. What was I there for if not to support my team, my health? I'm from California, remember? I didn't go to Florida for the climate since we have the best climate in the country. I also don't spend $2,500 for the hell of it. So that reason is bogus and colored by your antipathy towards me. So on that alone you know damn well I'm a loyal Red Sox fan. My posting style is annoying to you and others who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil about the Red Sox even though the team right now is short in pitching quality, short in morale and loaded with problems in the dugout and clubhouse from our collapse last year. The problem there is you get annoyed that some of us bring it up, me very bluntly sometimes and you don't want to hear any of it. Face it, you get very upset when anyone says anything negative about the Red Sox. We don't enjoy doing it, but as Ted Williams (remember him?) used to love to say, NEVER EVER FAIL TO LOOK A BALD FACT IN THE FACE. As for Muggah, he always looks bald facts in the face and so do Pumpsie and Elktonnick and I can warn you right now that if what happened in September occurs again this season what you get from them will make my diatribes look like milk toast. At any rate maybe sometime this season we might find something to agree on. If not, I can live with that.
  12. I've noticed most of us have a foil or two on this board. Instead of two distinct camps as in elsewhere, on this board we each seem to have a couple of antagonists. I don't know OCR or have I exchanged posts with him to my knowledge so I don't know what goes on between the two of you except what I read. I have a couple of foils who seem to like to push my buttons. One you know because she pushes yours too, but she has me on ignore and our contact right now is minimal. There is one guy, though, who really pisses me off and he knows who he is, lovng to cast aspersions as to my Red Sox loyalty. You try to sluff it off until you just snap. Anyway my friend you're not alone.
  13. With your passion and love for the Red Sox you would be a natural for an important job where you could be heard waxing poetic about the team-----working in the front office.
  14. I guess you like to hear the words of your writing in print because you conveniently bypassed or forgot most of what I wrote. The clutch thing was only in passing and the fact is he is not the great clutch performer he once was and I don't expect him or anyone else to keep that kind of pace up the way he did his first five years with the club. However, you seemed to skip over my contention that Ryan Lavarnway is too good a prospect to languish in the minors with the RH power he possesses and which we can use in our overwhelming LH hitter's lineup in a ballpark that is tailor made for right hand hitters. Next season th ere will be 30 inter-league games and I noticed you didn't touch on that either. That means there are 30 games that Papi is utterly useless to us in the lineup---or are you silly enough to say he play first base and Gonzales play RF or sit some games out. Are you really saying that? No, you're not because you are not stupid. Then you bring up 2010.....the fact is he was useless for close to the two first months of the season as he was in 2008 and 2009. You mean that couldn't happen again? As for the judgments on Ortiz, if memory serves me correctly he went off on a scorekeeper last season over an RBI and made a complete ass of himself afterward. Maybe you can force yourself to recall that. During the Inter-league games the past two years he has made scenes over his lack of playing time even though he is a butcher at first base. Besides, the price for DH's who can't play defense is no longer that high and he sure as hell wouldn't have gotten near what he's asking had he refused the arbitration that Cherington stupidly offered him. And, again, his presence in the lineup not only will cost us money we could have used for pitching but meas Lavarnway won't get into the lineup until he is 27, just like Youkilis who was kept out for that long. With good prospects, keeping them hinged to the minors or the bench until they are 27 is criminal, stupid and a waste of good talent. One year for Ortiz and then bon voyage. Let's see what he'd get next spring as a free agent. It would be a helluva lot less than he's going to get this year.
  15. Please Palodios, not a multi-year contract. What if he suddenly goes into a funk and has a rotten year (a possibility because he had three rotten half-years in a row back in 2008-2010)? We're not only stuck with him for another season but Ryan Lavarnway is blocked indefinately. To me that is absolutely stupid to the core; he is our best RH power prospect and you cannot to waste young talent like that. Besides, after this year he comes off the books with Dice K and a couple of others and we have some potential money freed up for players who can help us. With more inter-league games scheduled in 2013 do we want this guy in the lineup at f irst base and risk Gonzales in the OF? You know damn well Diva will not be content to be sitting on the bench in those games. A morale problem might develop if he was forced to sit. One year and out . Besides, he is no longer Big Papi, team leader and clutch performer. He has become a very selfish player and a big prima donna.
  16. For the record 700, I have tucked in my horns and tried to make peace with Emmz. I got it from many people that she is a stand up person and fan and I could have been out of line. I will have to follow her posts a lot more carefully from here on in. OTOH, did you notice how your "friend" jumped in the argument with her WA HOOS AND SMILIES and the usual supply of emoticons while added nothing to the dialogue? Yes you did!!!!
