  1. I'd want him only if we pull off the Manny/Clement for Tejada deal, and even then wouldn't be that excited in getting him.
  2. And you take seriosuly what the juicer Giambi says? Tejada only did that because he was frustrated with losing 3 straight to the Yanks.
  3. I would much rather have the 4 way deal than this, but if it is done I wouldn't mind. It's a lot better than what the O's origionally wanted (Papelbon/Lester along with Arroyo) but would give us 2 holes in the Of, with whom idk who we'd fill it with. Only decent options I see are Hidalgo and Wilson FA wise, one of them combined with Reed/Crisp would serve okay for one season I guess, but still doesn't look good to me.
  4. I don't think you can write off Patterson, granted you can't compare him to the potential of Reed, Crisp, but Patterson like them is still young, He could turn out to reach his potential for all we know.
  5. Yeah, he's going to be a solid 2-4 starter in the future, he's in the same situation as Papelbon is here, but we are probably going to trade away 2 pitchers for other holes
  6. The way Theo played it is tyhat everyone is available for the right price, and IMO Beckett is the right price. That's why I don't think we should involve him in any deal with TB unless its for one of their franchise players (Kazmir, Baldelli).
  7. I agree, it would absolutely ruin our 2006 lineup, power-wise
  8. Yeah, I always liked him even when he was a player, good hard workin class act.
  9. NewEnglandSports Tonight must not know what theyre talking about, that makes no sense what so ever when we have a more than capable 2B in Graffy and have an experienced and defensively solid SS in Loretta. I would be very confused if they released Graffanino to play Cora.
  10. Thats what I would do, only if we couldn't get anyone of equal value for him. I would love to get Tejada because he is a dirtdog leader that will play everyday and has a hunger for winning. He can fill our hole at SS and could combine with Pedroia to make another Miggy-Roberts combo up the middle. Also, as it has been mentioned, it is far easier to fill up an OF spot than a SS spot. The only thing with Manny, is he almost has a bipolar type feeling towards Boston and playing here. He wants to stay here, he doesn't, and all of his issues with Boston are easily solvable, but it just hasn't gotten to him yet. Also he has talked about retiring at the end of this contract, and getting Miggy now would substitute for the loss we would get if he did. Miguel tejada solves more than just the self-made hole at SS but he also: 1) Provides a stable leader 2) Gives you a complete player to man the infield 3) Can teach young players (Pedroia, Marte) how to reach their potential on both offense and defense 4) Gets rid of any Manny distractions 5) Gives a player who can take up the spotlight while humble players/rookies do not have to worry about the media.
  11. Alright, you all keep on saying get back to baseball, and yet you all are just spilling out your feelings. It looks like everyones apologized, so lets get abck to what the thread was meannt for.
  12. is it me or is this issue of yankee fans and screennames popping up in a ton of threads?
  13. The annoying Yankee fans are gone, the good contributing ones are here, though they may brag a bit as i said it's all in the rivalry.
  14. Anyone see when Conan O'Brien made fun of Raffy after the "I've never taken steroids. period." thing? I'd explain it but you have to see it for it to be funny.
  15. Agreed, thats oen of the big weak points in this deal that will make it fall through, tehre's no way theyd be happy with that package. Especially if they didn't accept Marte for Lugo
  16. Rubbinng it in each other's faces are what come along with a rivalry, and that has helped somewhat made this rivalry the greatest rvialry in sport. Both teams have had their ups and downs and now it is starting to even oput a bit. We got Schill, they got ARod. We got Bekcett, they got Damon. We have all rubbed it in their faces one time or another, so sometimes we have to accept it when the Yankees triumph over us, and that gives their fans the right to be proud of it, however I do agree, that it is annoying when they make accounts just to do it for one specific thing. It's good to see that some stay and contribute, ala 26 reasons.
  17. That's why I want to try and get a spect out of this somehow, i dont know if we could do it, but it does feel kind of pointless.
  18. Well as you saw, next year isn't the greatest CF year FA-wise, so I posted Jones because IMO he is a big imrpovement over Damon.
  19. They're getting a lot as it is, and adding Milledge would be way over the top.
  20. I realize, I was just giving options as Iv'e already said.
  21. Yes it would be much much easier to fill given the fact that tehre are 3 times as more OFs that can play LF than SS. I like this a lot for acouple of reasons: As you said, it would go straight up, we wouldn't have to ass a pitcher that we could use for Reed/Crisp and also Manny would be in the NL, not the AL East.
  22. Of course, but I'm tryin to make the point that next year will have a much deeper FA market.
  23. I wouldn't mind gettin a spect out of this either.
  24. Alright would you rather have a) signed Millwood to a 4 year deal sign Zito to a 4 year deal Would you rather a) sign Johnny Damon to a 4 year deal sign Andruw Jones to a 4 year deal Patience in the end will serve us much better then if we went on a spendinng spree to keep us Sox fans temporarily happy that we signed decent players when we couldv'e waited (like we did) and signed All-Star players who are younger than the ones we couldv'e signed this year. Not only that but as I've said numerous times we have 4 potential future All-Stars coming up in maybe a half year. That doesn't even include Papelbon. IMO this isn't a bad off-season at all for our team, if anything we're letting teams like Toronto go after all the decent and potentially good players while next year we go after all the good and potentially GREAT players. Remember, patience is a virtue
