I'm wondering what it would be like if this mentality had been around in 1920.
"Yeah, that George Herman...has nowhere to go but down! This deal, in reality, hurts the Yankees and helps us in the long run."
Yes, every Yankee fan is opposed to caps and every Royal fan is a supporter of caps. Just like every New Yorker was a Kerry fan and every Texan was a Bush fan in 2004.
I'm sure it's the same way across the nation(*sarcasm.) Don't use a small sample on an internet forum as some proof of some widespread vast Yankee conspiracy against baseball...
I'm sure there are many Sox fans who against caps and, heck, even a few Royal fans; support and opposition to these obstacles (I'm so objective) are widespread in baseball and don't break along team lines all the time.
My complaint was it would weaken several teams, teams who have owners who are willing to spend money to bring the rings (rhyme not intended) to their city. The Yankees are in that group, but so are the team's rivals...the Sox.
I'm glad I could do that. (I really don't care if you're insulting me.)
Really!? Well...I guess this is going to be a blue Christmas after all.
Oh well, I'll never understand why so many people are opposed to the free market in baseball.:dunno:
The Yankees bring fans to the stadium----> fans have a good time at the game -----> fans come back for more games in the future.
Another time tested truth is... building a winning team isn't always expensive. It takes time, but it can be done without spending a lot of money. Teams should be responsible for making themselves competitors, not the Commissioner of Baseball.
