  1. And Matt Lawton just got his first HR in pinstripes... This will be a great one to look back on if we win.
  2. I really think Seattle fans hate A Rod more than Boston fans do... Nice to see him shut them up, though, with a nice laser shot over the wall.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bellhorn in the lineup tomorrow. Joe and the other coaches probably want to see how he does... Oh well, we can only hope it works out for us.
  4. No, you're not.
  5. Do you understand steroids? They don't turn on and off like lights...which is how Giambi is performing this season. He's not on steroids, just streaky. Also, he was recently treated for a sore elbow/arm...I believe they said he got a cortisone (?) shot for it.
  6. Moose does not have it tonight. This is going to be a painful one to watch...
  7. Eh...Johnson has been pitching with that back all season, I don't think you just brush it off because he missed one game. I'm optimistic (big surprise?) about the Big Unit right now; he's had good stuff lately. On Friday he hit 97 more than a few times, even in the late innings.
  8. They test Bernie's arm...a greedy Mariner gets thrown out at 3rd.
  9. Edit: Nevermind, doesn't make sense.
  10. Heh...same things could be said for Wells. I mean if he expected to come into Yankee Stadium with a "B" on his hat and be showered with love...well...he's not as smart as I thought he was.
  11. Well...doesn't look like there will be a David Wells day at Yankee Statdium any time soom. That goes both ways Boomer.
  12. Heh...I was just stating a fact. Alex, I'll take 'overreaction' for $500. You wouldn't be alone.
  13. Also, I'm hearing a lot of talk about Embree... I'm starting to like the fact that we signed this guy. He had a few hiccups in his first couple appearances but has settled down. It's likely that the 5 run bottom of the 9th on Saturday would never have happened if Embree hadn't come in and kept the Royals where they were. Joe just needs to remember this guy is a lefty specialist, not an ordinary relief pitcher. (Don't get me wrong, I wasn't a big fan of him when he first showed up. I was at his pinstripe debut and booed him as he took and left the mound.)
  14. I like this trade; it gives Joe the oppurtunity to DH one of our OFs once in or awhile or just give them a day off.
  15. Oh well...another infielder can't hurt...
  16. No! No! No! Cashman...why are you blowing all that goodwill you earned after the Chacon deal!?
  17. Well...he couldn't be any worse than his last start. Hopefully we win tonight and extend our winning streak to 5 games.
  18. It's going to be a shame to see him go next season.
  19. And the Yankees are on top of the Wild Card...about time. This road trip is important; hopefully we can take the series in Seattle (we beat up on them even when we were struggling) and take at least one from Oakland.
  20. When you're done with that crystal ball, can I use it?
  21. That's what I think happened, too. That or he was tipping his pitches; there is no way any team gets 4 home runs off of Randy Johnson in one inning then just gets shut down for the rest of the game.
  22. Good point. However, and I don't want to sound like a Unit Apologist (though I am one ), he did pitch 7 shut out innings, striking out 8. Of course, that doesn't excuse that one inning.
  23. When I attended a game at Fenway, the fans were (for the most part) nothing but nice to me. I had decent conversations with them and they even defended me when a fan 'accidentally' spilt a beer on me. Every group of fans has its fair share of bad apples, its best not to judge the many by the few. Also, like I said, treat the home team with respect and you'll get it. I wasn't decked out in Yankee gear (just a hat), didn't mock the Boston players, and whenever the Yankees did something I used my golf clap instead of acting like they had just won Game 7.
  24. Our pitching is finally starting to come together, and not a day too soon. Rotation: Moose: Barring his implosion earlier this week, he's done very well lately. Chacon: A gift from God. Leiter: I still like this guy for the same reason Joe Torre likes him, he's a fighter and he's shown that to NY Fans. Wright: Two strong starts after coming off the DL, has shown a lot of potential...but I'll need to see more from him before making a final judgement. Big Unit: He had 7 good inning on Sunday, unfortunatley, he also had 1 horrible one. He has something to prove to NY fans, so far he's prospered in those types of situations. Bullpen: Mariano: Going through his regular August slump, not worried about him. Sturtze, Gordon: Have gotten a lot of rest lately, this can only help us. Proctor: A guy with a lot of potential. I'll end on a pessimistic note... Small: This experiment has come to an end. Who knows? It's baseball...anything could happen.... :dunno:
  25. ...what is Schilling's ERA? We're not the only club with a struggling future HOFer. See it's funny, the day you proclaimed Leiter as an 'automatic loss' he gave us his best start since well...when he faced you guys.
