  1. I don't really think it's all that fair to bash the guy before the season even starts...it's not even spring training yet...not to mention that yeah...we won with him before...no one's perfect.
  2. Well, it seems the thread got a bit off topic there for a page or few... but back to the topic in subject...I personally don't think Manny is going to end up going anywhere. He's just too damn expensive! 57 million dollars is not a small chunk of change, and there's no way the Sox will give him up without something incredible in return. I'd guess that a few more years (at least 1 or 2) and when his contract is a little cheaper, if he's still the power hitter he is now...maybe they'll move him. For now? I doubt it.
  3. I must say I will be incredibly disappointed if they deal Nixon. He's my favorite! I don't think they will, he has expressed he would like to finish out his career in Boston...his health also hasn't been the best lately, and his averages have dropped a bit since 2004. But I have faith he can pull it together and rock the house! Go lefty!!
  4. Ooooh..I don't even remember...it seems like it was so long ago! I think the A's though....
  5. OK, this may seem really dumb to all of you, but I don't get something. Why are the announcers saying that if the Yankees win today, they clinch the title? :dunno: I thought that we had another game tomorrow...and if they win today, won't they just go one game up and we have a chance to tie it tomorrow? I don't understand this..can anyone clear it up for me?
  6. YES!!!! (OK, I know I'm a bit late, but YESSSSSSSSS!)
  7. OK..that makes sense. It's just odd to me as he's normally a starting pitcher.
  8. Is anyone besides me wondering why they're bringing in Arroyo? I've just never seen him brought in mid-game before...or did I hear it wrong?
  9.
  10. I like to think positive. If we lose, I will be more than happy to eat my words. But I have faith.
  11. I hate Jeter. A lot. But this is just wrong. And racist, and stupid. :thumbdown And I hate the dude threatening him even more, because now I actually feel bad for Jeter...something I do not want to feel.
  12. I have to say that I would love to see the Yanks not make it to the playoffs. It's been, what? Like 20 years or something running that they have been in the postseason? God, it would be awesome to see them lose.... So, uh, after the Sox win the AL East...GO CLEVELAND!!
  13. I agree. Everyone has a slump, and the fans should be able to acknoweldge that just the same as the player. It is absolutely true that the player *knows* when they are slumping. How is booing them or throwing insults going to help anything? Example: I was at the game on Sunday when we got completely creamed by Oakland. In the eighth, a huge chunk of the fans were already leaving. The guy behind me was insulting Clement with a fury before he even got through the first inning. We were trying to get the crowd to do the Sox chants, cheering and such..and it was the deadest crowd you would have ever seen. Sure, there were some people cheering..but you can bet your ass that if we were winning, or there was no score, or a tie score, that stadium would have been roaring. It made me sad to see that so many people only cheer when we're winning, and it sucked to see so many people so quick to forget how great the team really is. :dunno:
  14. Thank you Soxie!
  15. Heck no! Granted..we totally were creamed..but that doesn't take the magic away from Fenway! I had a total blast and cheered all the way to the last inning! I love that park. And I love the Sox, win or lose. We got our pic on Redsox.com, too !! I have so many awesome pictures..and Johnny Damon signed my friend's jersey after the game..it was great! Oh, and BTW..I don't have a daughter..I went with my boyfriend and a few friends of ours..
  16. OK! Not that anyone really CARES.. but I'm off to pick up my friends and then off to Fenway! GO MOTHER f***IN SOX!!
  17. THANK YOU!! I knew it had to be *some*thing like that...but as I'm not completely up on all the history, I didn't know! Well, you learn something new every day!
  18. :dunno: I keep hearing this commercial on XM satellite radio that says: "there are some numbers that Red Sox fans could never forget...the number 9 and the number 8." Does anyone know what these numbers mean? It's driving me nuts...
  19. That would be a prety hefty fall, jumping off the monster... And yes, thank you! I will have fun! I will be sure the whole park can hear me cheer!
  20. Guess I set myself up for that one, huh? Nope! I was referring to MY all time favorite team...the RED SOX!
  21. OK! I am a die hard fan who has moved to New York mid-season..I have missed WAY too many games this season! BUT...the good news is... http://jonnythan.com/sox_tickets.jpg TICKETS! Eveything was sold out...so we went on EBay and managed to snag these..granted, it's the bleachers, but hey..with the standings the way they are and the playoffs so close..every game counts! So, I'll be finally where my baseball rooted heart has been longing to be ALL YEAR! Cheering for the best team in baseball tomorrow right there at Fenway!
