    I'm not going to try to claim that Dice-K didn't impress in his first start, he did. But after reading the press this morning you would think that Jesus was resurrected on the Thursday before Easter. Let's put this in perspective, this is the Kansas City Royals and he is a new pitcher they never saw before. After a few at bats they did start to hit him around a little. What is really being lost here is if you take out the KC defense and the bad call that cost KC at least one run the game story would be different. The real story would be that Greinke out pitched Matsuzaka for 7 innings against the great Boston offence.

    What I ment was a big deal ESPN (Also known as NESN2) made when Pappy hit that homer off a closer that didn't belong in the game.Then Wednesday NESN2 went nuts over another Red Sox walkoff when it was really about a complete collapse of the Cleveland bullpen. I am agreeing that Ortiz deserves the MVP as it stands now, but if he falls closer to the pack the DH thing becomes a major issue. Also the average isn’t great and that can come into play if Jeter gets the batting title.

    As much as I hate to admit it if the season ended today he should be MVP but he will cool off I'm sure. Cleveland's Rookie closer helped him alot last week and he just blew another one last night. I still think the DH thing plays a big part with the voters.     TB's third base coach saved the game for the Red Sox, what a idiot to send him. He was out by 30 feet.

    Last time the Yanks came back from 9 runs down it was against the Red Sox. The Yankees overcame a nine-run deficit for the fourth time in their storied history. The last time they did it was a 12-11 win in 10 innings against the rival Red Sox on June 26, 1987. Boston's starter in that one was Roger Clemens.

    Sorry but I don’t think Curt reads this board but he’s a regular on Son of Sam Horn, he goes by the name “gehrig38”. Good luck getting on there, they don’t let Yankee fans anywhere near that board unlike this fine piece of the Internet.

    I remember that game and the “big standing O” was more like some polite applause.

    Wells lost respect with the Yankee fans when he pulled himself out of the game against the Marlins in the WS, he was getting a history that when things go wrong he would give in or blow up. He did that for the RS in the game he was thrown out and in Chicago when he lost focus and gave up the big home run. I don’t think many players read these boards except for Schilling, but they do listen (or their friends do) to sports radio talk shows. Many players talk about what they hear on the talk shows and the fans killing them wrongfully. Addressing the Jeter and Rivera booing, that was a small percentage of fans. They were immediately criticized all over New York and it stopped. The RS fans are completely obsessed and they take their own temperature every few minutes. When it comes to obsession Yankee fans fall back to a distant second. And Damon doesn’t have a learning disability he has a speech disability.

    First of all people with speech disorders should not be considered stupid. You sound like a moron for questioning Damon’s intelligence because of his speech problems. And go ahead pretending that players don’t want to leave because of RS fans, I’ll be happy to watch another 86 years go by. I can understand you not being happy with a player that goes to the Yankees but the RS fans take things too far. Yes David Wells was booed in a RS uniform but he was remembered for some bad things he did also. Damon did enough for Red Sox Nation that you could cut him a little slack.

    Listen to you guys, you can’t wait to rip Damon a new one when he comes back to play in your beloved Fenway. It’s as much the fault of the fans as it is the front office that so many players can’t wait to get out of there. Damon had home runs that were a knife in the back of the Yankees and their fans, without him the RS might have been watching the Yankees sweep the Cardinals. I don’t want to hear how Yankee fans can be; we’ve got nothing on you guys.

    Damon is just another in a long list of Red Sox players that get offended by RS negotiating tactics. I can’t think of another winning team that has so many players wanting to move on. The RS claim that these players are in the twilight of their careers but in many cases there’s something left in the tank. Just think that it’s almost a decade since Clemens left and now you guys want him back.

    I agree that it’s not time to make predictions yet but if Manny is traded and you fill SS and CF with the best options then 3rd place behind Toronto is definitely a possibility. The pessimists are bringing up the questions in the Yankee starters but I think Boston is in the same boat. Schilling may never be pre 2005 again, Beckett may break down trying to pitch at Fenway a full season. Wells could be gone, Clement is shaky for a full season and how will Wakefield be without Mirabelli. I’m not crazy about Damon but I do think he will help offensively. He has never had as good a situational hitter behind him as Jeter. In CF he will cover more ground then Bernie but he does have a noodle arm. He seems really happy to be here and I won’t mind seeing Michelle in the stands on HD TV either.

    Did anyone see Embree applauding in the dugout at the final out of the Sox game on the big screen? I can understand him being bitter about the way things ended in Boston but openly showing his pleasure of the RS losing was a little low class.
