  1. all I gotta say is, thank God that thing didn't go one round longer
  2. Cause Lowell isn't still a damn good third baseman, at least range-wise
  3. have we won yet?
  4. It really all depends how much $$$ they'd have to invest in Bedard and the contingency plans they put in place if he goes down. But I agree, he can be effective and if there's one organization that could keep him healthy, it's the Sox
  5. How "long-term" could they possibly go for anyway? The guy's 36 and has battled injuries in recent years. I know they like that "no easy out, keep the line moving" type of lineup but they really have no choice but to go outside the organization and figure out what to do with the $6 mil owed to Gonzo next season if they wanna change that
  6. one more inning and theyll call it
  7. Wake could be pitching a perfect game and I'd hope that would be clear
  8. There just isn't a better option unless Lowrie comes back really strong but his chronic wrist issues concern me and the fact that despite that, he remains unproven. Might as well take the steady glove cause like I said, this team doesn't need a big bat out of the SS spot.
  9. holy s***, 16 baserunners allowed by DiNardo tonight...a WHIP of over 3.00
  10. The Sox have him for another year and maybe....MAYBE they can live with his putrid bat for 2010 but beyond that, try again to solve the SS spot
  11. This team doesn't NEED Gonzo to be good offensively, they need him to hold his own defensively and he's done that while not being a complete abyss offensively but there really isn't a point in trying to debate his offensive merits cause there are very few. He is what he is.
  12. assuming they win tonight (6-0 lead as I type this), they gotta go 10-3 in the final 13 to win 100
  13. its all good, this puts into perspective just about bad the Rays have fallen off
  14. He flat out wanted to get paid, he didn't care who was gonna pay him. Toronto signed him to a pretty hefty deal considering his career resume so far but this is a deal that could come back to bite Boston in the ass.
  15. Ellsbury - CF Pedroia - 2B Martinez - C Youkilis - 1B Bay - LF Ortiz - DH Lowell - 3B Baldelli - RF Gonzalez - SS Wakefield - SP
  16. yea, and you can probably get a 1B/DH to play sparingly for cheap
  17. that would definitely work
  18. ill always remember Lenny DiNardo as being the starter for the Sox the day I drove to and from Toronto in one day (12 hour round-trip drive) to see them play the Jays. He s*** the bed, they lost 8-1 or something and we left in the 7th inning.
  19. Trying to predict the performance of Tim Wakefield? Are you trying to go clinically insane?
  20. And he doesn't need to be ready yet. We still have Papelbon for two more years, a lot can happen in two years.
  21. Thing about Mauer is, any team willing to spend the kind of coin it would take to get him probably won't keep him at catcher for very long due to injury and wear-down risks. That being said, will a team spend that much on a 1B/DH who has had one season of 15+ homers?
  22. yup, sunday afternoons are for football in my book nice to see the win though
