    I think its all more of a subconscious thing anyway. kinda like how cops will pull over a red sports car going 10 mph over the speed limit but won't pull over a minivan going 15 mph over the speed limit

    in the end, I've always believed the Nomar trade was the turning point of the '04 season rather than the Yankee brawl, so maybe a Manny trade would light that proverbial fire under their ass this year. Pointing to the brawl as the turning point just makes the '04 season a more interesting story for the media, kinda like how they say Heath Ledger killed himself cause the Joker role drove him crazy

    I agree it was absolutely horrible but as Mo kept going away, away, away with the cutter and Lowell kept fighting them off, I told myself as soon as he comes inside with the cutter, he's gonna get the call It's a shame because he only got the call because his name is Mariano Rivera

    1. You say they're showing no passion because Youk didn't charge Joba. What about Coco charging at Shields? Furthermore, do you really want the Sox to face the kind of wrath MLB would reap upon them for starting two bench-clearing brawls in a season? 2. If the Sox had a "fire in their belly", how would that affect the records of the Rays or Angels? 3. I don't care if they have the passion of the '04 Idiots or not but they seem to have the passion of the '07 Champions

    well, the fact is that he isn't the player he once was. he no longer is a .320, 40 HR, 130 RBI guy but over a full season, he's still a .310, 30 HR, 100 RBI guy he's gone from being elite to very good and maybe stuff like faking injuries, shoving old guys, slapping teammates and calling out the FO is fine for an elite player, but not for a very good player
