  1. I'd imagine there are varying degrees of an oblique pull as well, like with a hamstring. Beckett said he just felt the oblique tugging him and by the 40th pitch, he felt something wrong. That sounds different from a few years ago when Trot pulled his oblique on a violent swing and looked like a sniper had shot him.
  2. Truth. Those who are "bitter" once they leave Boston see it as the FO has some of the deepest pockets in baseball and they think that because they are beloved faces of the team (ie. Manny, Pedro, Damon), the FO will spend whatever it takes to keep them, only when they don't, their ego can't handle it so they go off bashing the organization and pretending they're so much happier where they are now. Looking at the facts, the Red Sox are the most successful organization in baseball this century and when you look at why, the ability to produce young talent is #1 but their ability to know when to let go of certain players is not too far behind
  3. I go by what I see
  4. yea, it makes a ton of sense. Jeter has his reputation of being a sterling defensive player because of the Gold Gloves which is horseshit because everyone knows Gold Gloves are based mainly on reputation and notoriety. Alex Gonzalez should have won it over Jeter in 2006. the basketball analogy makes sense too, that's why Ben Wallace and Shaq can get away with being horrid free throw shooters
  5. Look, I love baseball and stats as much as the next guy and I was reading the article but once it gets into that Baseball Prospectus s*** like the following, that's where I lose interest. I've always seen Jeter as a solid defensive player who's great at getting balls he can get to, which is fewer than a lot of other shortstops. Quite similar to what I think of Dustin Pedroia defensively. And I would have loved for Jeter to have been a Red Sox, for the record
  6. That's all you really had to post
  7. lol, 4 post game thread
  8. honestly, I was wondering why it seemed every other playoff team announced their pitching plans and the Sox hadnt but if this latest turn with Beckett being able to go in game 3 is true, thats not so bad
  9. wow does Aardsma ever suck

  17. I know, I just think its ridiculously absurd that theyre thinking about using him after they were concerned enough about him shoulder that they sent him for an MRI
  18. but to think of even trying to use Mo with a sore shoulder in this series is just stupid
  19. no, this weekend is meaningless they would pitch their MVP with a sore shoulder in a meaningless game?
  20. why the f*** would they even think about pitching him this weekend?
