  1. Well, they just introduced a bunch of uniform changes with the socks not being among them so dont hold your breath
  2. how Phoenix let Wheeler go for nothing is beyond me
  3. of course it's not true, how can a report be credible when this is the guy who wrote it http://www.123teachme.com/cms_images/funny/cantante_cubano.jpg
  4. The credibility of the source aside, this report would surprise me if true if only for the fact that any team who would persue Manny is currently involved in the Tex negotiations (just swap out Boston for the Dodgers) therefore implying that Manny would be a consolation prize for someone who failed in inking Tex. So I don't see how or why Manny would sign before Tex.
  5. Impacto Deportivo......christ
  6. I think the lack of talk is because Abreu values himself a lot higher than any team interested in his services does
  7. Jay Payton was signed to a team that had Manny, Damon and Nixon as its starting outfielders. I have no idea where he thought his every day playing time was gonna come from
  8. I said before the season ended I expected the Yankees to spent about $300 mil in free agency so I guess simply going by what I said that I shouldn't be surprised but still, $82.5 mil for AJ f***ing Burnett
  9. I don't think anyone is surprised at the Yankees signing AJ and CC but the amount they signed AJ for, at least to me, was shocking
  10. I wouldn't think any kind of deal would be negotiated until the Teixeira thing plays out
  11. I agree with what you're saying, the Bruins can't give him a #1 center-type contract for a guy who probably won't be a #1 center for most of his next contract
  12. The biggest difference being New York has a GM who is willing to overpay in years and money for an underachieving pitcher
  13. What's even worse is that he vetoed a trade here.
  14. If Julio Lugo were to bitch in any way about his role in the team, I'd be perfectly fine with the team telling him he hasn't played well enough to be an every day player and he should thank God he's actually able to make $9 million a year. He's got absolutely no right to complain about being on the bench.
  15. Savard did suffer some injury problems earlier in his career which could catch up with him as he gets older and the fact that he's a smaller guy doesn't help but he's still playing at a very high level and there isn't really anything suggesting that's about to stop anytime soon
  16. Axelsson, Thomas and Fernandez are indeed all UFAs at the end of the year. Fernandez won't stay. They'll bring up Rask and keep Thomas. Axelsson will probably still stay since the team doesn't have much of a veteran presence.
  17. They won't trade for Peavy cause there isn't a dire need for another front-line starter
  18. any team signing Baldelli should have their own doctors do their own diagnosis anyway
  19. they aren't getting rid of Lugo unless they take on some other team's bad contract besides, I like the idea of Lugo as the super-sub anyway, regardless of his contract
  20. Of course it's desperation, the Yankee plan would've been for Hughes and Kennedy to be effective major league starters by the time Mussina and Pettitte were done and clearly, that's not the case. Any team that fails to consistently produce pitching from the farm system and is forced to plug those holes by turning to the ridiculously over-priced free agent pitching market is a team that is desperate.
  21. ehhhh, you guys are gonna see Axe come playoff time, I wouldnt dismiss him yet
  22. He'd be a great 4th outfielder for us but I can see him getting a one or two-year deal from a small market club for starting job in an effort to prove to other teams he can take a full-time gig
  23. Rocco just needs a Red Bull
  24. If there were to be a one game playoff for the AL wild card, I'd think most people would pick Beckett over Sabathia to be their starter
  25. It's just my understanding that a human brain is supposed to develop to a certain point by age 30
