That's correct. Its called playing/ splitting the spread. One of your teams is going to win. If you pick it right ( or are just lucky ) you win both. Good luck. BTW I'm hoping for the same thing !

I undestand this, however with this done and the availablility of current acquisitions ( trade or free agent ), I think we've managed to put ourselves in a vunerable position to get screwed. I think it is fairly well known that the Sox prefer a top shortstop ( defensively, offensively or both ).

This correct : Lets say the Dolphins are 7 point favorates over the Jets....and I pick the Jets(for the spread) that means that if the Jets lose by 6 or less, I win(7 is a tie).. For this site you get a win, if you were betting someplace else, you'd get the amount of your bet.

This what I don't get. I understand and agree with the Hanley deal. By why on earth would you trade Renteria ( and pay deffered salary of 11 million (?) to lazy to look up, BTW nobody seems to mention ) without having a deal in place ? So now we're loaded with corner infielders, got at least two players ( also maybe Clement , Bronson - nobody feels real well about being mentioned in trade rumors ), we got a "potential" all-star minor prosprect( that maybe damaged ). We now have increased our payroll, haven't addressed our needs CF( can't sign Johnny ) , LF ( assuming Manny goes ), RF ( has anyone heard if Trot had the surgery that "he needed " ), SS ( we traded our " must have/ Gold Glove SS and his "heir apparent " ), 1st base ( no stud, let's try somebody that played third ). We have glaring needs that other teams and agents are aware of ( which happen to be be key positions ), we've raided, and seem willing to further raid our prospects ( no wonder why Theo left ), and increased our payroll.

Totally agree. Threat the next two games as tune ups. I want everyone healthy as possible, but in shape timing wise, which means game experience.

Yeah, I'm loving it. I'm one for one. Now I'm going to see one of my best friends who hosts a block party. Every house is decorated to the max with decorations ( written -up several times in the local paper as the place to go for view and the best decorations on Cape Cod ), all the food you can eat, soups, munchies ( including fresh popcorn from a real machine ) seafood, meats ( including venison and elk ), campfires, singing, Mr. & Mrs Claus, and just about every thing else. Great time !!! Going to freeze my butt off and have a great time.

yankeessuck013, you missed the noon deadline but I'll let it slide, you're the third to take 35 for MNF.

I've told you in a post and two PMs that you must use the template, use bold for your picks, and that you can't use the same number for MNF as someone else ( you were informed that 35 was already picked by SoxFan#1 ). I've had the same kinds of problems with Ray10 and RedRuffing15 ( RedRuffing15 has listened and got with the program, which I appreciate ). I don't think it's too much to ask, to read and follow the rules. By not doing so makes the calculation of the results more time consuming and more prone to mistakes due to deviation from the standard format and scoring template. Thanks to One Red Seat, I was able to correct an error in scoring last week ( wouldn't have been an error if he hadn't declined his prize ). This is a have fun contest, there's no risk, no grieve, and for some a few extra bucks for the holidays. I haven't yet decided whether to change you and Ray10 to the " just for fun category " , let it stand, or just not count them.

I think the key word here is "if".

Jim Brown was one of my favorite players to watch. I was truly depressed to see him retire at his peak to start a movie career. His movie career was a joke. Watch Jim run watch Jim die early in the film. Walter Payton was a totally different kind of back that played in a different era. There is no comparison, they are different. You can't say there will never be a back better, unless you have a better crystal ball than the rest of the world.

Okay fellow sports fans, heads up this week starts the begging of 3 days of football. Meaning the games start on Saturday, which means your picks must be in by noon on 12/17/05. This is the last prize pick for a while ( i'll be too busy, Holidays, tax season, etc ). You must follow the rules. They are ( I hate being redundant ) : Use the templates provided ( any edits/corrections use your submission ) Indicate when you pick if you're just playing for recognition ( I assume everyone else is playing for prizes and recognition ). You must have 10 posts to win a prize. There must be 8 or more prize contestents. There are three prize categories : 1) Spread Category : You're picking the favorite or the underdog. The favorite is listed to the left. The middle column is the points that you must win by. This means if the Pats are favored by 4 ( which they are ) they must win by more than 4 for you to win, if they win by 4 its a tie, and less than 4 you loose. If you chose Tampa, that means at kick-off Tampa leads 4 to 0. In other words, Tampa can ; win, then you win, loose by less than 4 then you win, or loose by 4 then you tie. 2) Straight Category : Very simple just pick a winner. Flip a coin, take the favorites, names you like, etc. 3) Total Monday Night Football Points Scored : This is used in two ways. One as a way to determine a winner in the case of a tie. Pick a number that you think is the combined score of the two teams playing on Monday Night, the closestwins +/-. An example : the score is 24-10 = 34 pts, the person that picked closest to 34 wins either exact, above or below. The prizes are : $ 25 for each category.
