It's outstanding how he figured a 40+ yr old would come off the bench to score at late TD. Simply amazing !!
  2. Maybe i'm wong but I thought itwas Tedy B.
  3. Was it me, or did the comments and replay focus on Vrabel, because I didn't see how Tedy got hurt. What about an update on Samuel ?
  4. Yup, I'm here . This is the last ABC broacast for MNF, at least for a while, a lot of memories.
  5. Hey, welcome aboard.
  6. The Pats win part is correct. However, if the Pats lose it goes to the tie breaker for that category. The tie breaker is the closest to Monday Night Football Total Points between the tied contestants. In this case, the closest between your pick of 50 and RedRuffing15 pick of 62 would win. Any score below 56 you win, 56 exactly you tie, and anything over 56 RedRuffing15 wins.
  7. Congats SoxFan#1 ! However, three were 500 or better : One Red Seat, SoxFan#1, and jimmycarter05.
  8. Actually, you won the Straight Pick Prize, three straight weeks. One Red Seat beat you last week and is tied this week.
  9. Going into Monday Night Football, One Red Seat ( picking for recognition ) has won the Spread Category with a fine record of 9-5. He is also tied with Stocker323 for bragging rights in the Straight Category. This is a replay of last week, but both have NE so it will come down to the total points for MNF. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Soxfan#1 has clinched the Spread prize with a record of 8-6. Congrats ! The Straight Category is still in question depending on who wins the game. Stocker323 has the lead with a record of 9-6 and has picked NE. RedRuffing15 has a record of 8-7, but has selected NYJ. Monday Night Football total ponts is still up for grabs. Good luck everyone. 10. That's because its a holely product.
  11. Looks like SoxFan#1 has a virtual lock on the Spread Category, the Straight Category is a virtual run down the stretch. Just about everyone has a record of 7-6 and have picked the same for the remaining 3 games, with the exception of Stocker323 ( who picked Balt. tonight ). So tonight will determone who's in the running for Monday Night ( deciding the Spread Category on Monday night ). In another update, I spent alot of time PMing a number of people in an attempt to either clarify if their picks were for fun or prizes ( due to the original post and the resultant confusion ) or to get them to include the MNF total points tie breaker. As a result some have indicated that they were playing for fun, withdrew, or didn't respond ). Late Sat. I noticed that my pick for St. Louis in the Spread Category wasn't expressed in bold, so I edited it to appear in bold. It was a definate loss, at the time. I didn't realize, that no one would know what I edited. In hind sight, I should have just left it blank. Normally, I'd just withdraw or change my designation to "just for fun" . However, if I do so, the amount of qualified contestants for the prize category would fall below the required 8 needed. So therefore, I've disqualified myself from the Spread Category, so that I may follow the rules and still award all the prizes. Anyone, that has a problem let me know.
  12. Do a little research, Damon has always gone where the money is. He hired an agent that is well known to do that and only that. The Sox fans didn't have a thing to do with his departure, it was only about money. Personally, I never had any "love" for him. I veiwed him for what he was and is, a hired gun. He'll fit in fine with the rest of your overpaid hired guns. Sorry, but you don't win the Triple Crown with 5 year olds.
  13. I'm not challenging some of those points, I'm questiong th e handling of the Cf needs which includes the Damon negoiations ( or lack thereof ). If a casual observer looked at Damon's history, his book, his agent, and compared them to the Red Sox's analysis of his finacial worth to the club ( what they're willing to spend ), I'm sure to was fairly easy to conclude that they weren't going to sign Damon. Clearly both Damon and his agent have clearly demonstrated a propensaty to go for the highest dollar. When Johnny came here, I put him in the " hired gun " category. Meaning you pay the bucks and hope you get your money's worth. The point being this : in any negoiations, you try to do so from a point of strength ( be it real or perceived ) not after your cards have been played. Before the Yanks signed Damon, we could always say that the price was too high and that we'd just sign Damon. Also, we could have gone for more versatile players, ie. that could play CF or the corners. It is now clearly obvious that the Sox definately have a need for CF and probably two others ( Manny, Trot - I've never heard about the results of the off season surgery that supposed to be needed, Gabe's return, etc ). The Sox knew they had needs, as did the rest of MLB, why not make deals when there were more available players ( free agents and trades ) on the market ?
  14. Exactly, success solidifies confidence ( example Bill B of the Pats )..
  15. How about a chant of " Idiot, Idiot, Idiot ", when he comes to bat a theme song of : " Take the Money and Run " ( Steve Miller ).
  16. My guess is that is a major reson why Theo left. Left might be the wrong term, since he has rumored to come back in another capacity and hasn't signed anywhere else.
  17. True, but part of the equation is that we gave up our starting ss and cash ( appox. 11 million ? ).
  18. Right on the mark. I feal like the Sox are now run by the Three Stooges, with Larry now the head Stooge. We went into the off season needing pictching ( quality starters 1 or 2 ), bullpen help, center fielder, corner outfielder, and a power hitting quality first baseman. As of now, we have solved little if any of these needs. Yet, we now need a short stop as well ( the most critical infield position ). We have two players that have demanded to be traded ( for which we will not get comprable value, ie. not being able to deal from a position of strength ) and we'll probably need to include Major leauge players and prospects to fill the void of starters. It just doesn't make any sense.
  19. Yeah, add me to the Hoover list.

  21. From page one of : Introduce Yourself Forum. Being pissed off at Yankees fans seems to be a popular trend. That's part of the rivalry and has intensified with the recent loss of Damon to the Yanks ( and the flood of new Yankees posters ) and is understandable. However, as long as a member is here to make legimate posts of information and opinions, he or she should not have to be degraded with insults. I'm not picking on one person, but in general, its not right to attempt to degrade someone because of their loyalty to a team, age, sex, etc. What's the next step, ban all non-Read Sox Fans, ban or ridicule anyone with a different point of view. I usually avoid this kind of crap, because I really don't have the time, interest, or desire. But, I will speak my mind, if I see something that I beleive is wrong. I've PM'ed 700 to explain my position. I still stand by what I said. a700hitter and I have no problems per latest PM.
  22. John, I basically said the same thing. The thread went a little far astray getting into Babe Ruth, Ted williams, Yaz, etc. Then getting into the personal assaults and name calling. You have a different perspective and that's fine.
  23. Agreed, 5 million and ML player/ prospects no way.
  24. I'd love to see him here also. But jeez, five years at 11 mil+ with Boras on the scene, sounds like Pedro again.
  25. a700hitter, I haven't involved myself in this "feud" until now. You are new here, and as such, maybe you don't know the members or how things work. But we tend to talk and discuss various topics, mostly sports with a main emphasis on the Red Sox and Yankees. Would you talk like you've posted to a friend or co-worker ? Specifically, I'm referring to your attempt to demean 26-6 for his contributions, logic and intellectual capacity. Have you based you comment ( quoted and placed in bold ) " please start adding some interesting information to this Board " on any reasearch at all ? I seriously doubt you have. Otherwise, you would have noticed that 26-6 has been a significant contributor to this site. Have you noticed The Talk Sox Official Awards thread ? I think not, because you would have seen that he is a runaway favorite in one category and a leading contender in a couple of others. He has also started and maintains a transaction thread that has been stickied. The reason it has been stickied is because it is a valuable resource. You accuse him of being illogical, I find that rather humerous. Given that fact that you're both discussing ancient history mostly based on conjecture and opinion ( as well as some convoluted factual references ) in a thread that is about the fact that Damon signed with the Yankees. Your comments don't relate to this thread ( maybe in an abstract way ). As far as 26-6's intellicual capacity, who are you to judge ? First, he's not writing a term paper for your evaluation, he's posting on a discussion board as a respected member. He has 1,600 + posts and you have 34 ( or there about ), your's have been strickly opinion. Opinion is fine, and its incouraged here, however, you cross the line when you state ( or infer ) that you opinion is fact and use it to attack someone on the site. In this case, you've implied that your age qualifies you to speak of the past in an authorative nature. I believe that I go back longer than you. My best friend in the eraly 60's was the son of the Red Sox short stop Ed Bressoud. I have been following the Red Sox ever since ( including The Cape League ). I'm not a Mod and I can't ban you, nor would I ( at this point ) I'm just telling you that personal attacks are not tolerated here. Continuing to do so would cause the thread to moved to "Fights and Crap", be ignored or confronted by other members, or your banning. I really hope that you can adjust some of your comments, because I do think that you have alot to contribute ( if I thought othwise, I wouldn't waste my time posting this ).
